Right Wing News has released....
The 40 Most Obnoxious Quotes For 2008
Here are a few samples to give you an idea of what it's like,
6) "I don't want to sound like an ad, a public service ad on TV, but the fact is if you can read, you can walk into a job later on. If you don't, then you've got, the Army, Iraq, I don't know, something like that. It's, it's not as bright. So, that's my little commercial for that." -- Stephen King
26) "We'll be eight degrees hotter in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow. Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals." -- Ted Turner
36) "Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul." -- Mark Morford
You'll definitely want to read them all. It's a bi-partisan shoe-munching. -the Armorer

Don't forget the 2008 Weblog Awards. We're shilling for War on Big Tobacco in the Miblog category, and The Torch, in best Canadian blog. Argghhh? We're being spanked by Israel Matzav, who has the distinct traffic advantage of blogging from Israel while there's a war on. Hard to compete with that! -the Armorer

*A term of art from the artillery. Harassment and Interdiction Fires. Back in the day, when you could just kill people and break things without a note from a lawyer, they were pre-planned, but to the enemy, random, fires at known gathering points, road junctions, Main Supply Routes, assembly areas, etc - to keep the bad guy nervous that the world around him might start exploding at any minute. Not really relevant to today's operating environment, right? But, it *is. The UAVs we fly over Afghanistan and Pakistan looking for targets of opportunity are a form of H&I fires, if you really want to parse it finely. We just have better sensors and fire control now. Of course, now I have to call them UAS's, because someone got a Legion of Merit for the name change.Anyway, I call the post H&I Fires because it's random things posted by me and people I've given posting privileges to that particular topic. Another term of art that might be appropriate is Free Fire Zone.
Accountability must accompany freedom, or it becomes license, and a century ago, accountability was demanded for incendiary phrases.
One of the unfortunate byproducts of the automobile age is that no one carries horsewhips any more...
