Something for a lazy Saturday... since I'm going to be shooting the M1A anyway...

It just kinda nice to see my favorite rifle, even in new furniture, is still at work, perfortating the enemies of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness..  I'm going to run some rounds through his younger brother - who still sports the wood furniture of their grandfather.

I just took delivery of the M1A's parent..  1943 Springfield M1 Garand.  Rebarrelled to .308  Can't wait to try her out.  She needs a suitable name though.

How 'bout Great Garanny :)

Geez, field stripping that thing must be a nightmare -- it's got more attachments than a German vacuum cleaner...

If anyone's interested, the stock system in the top picture is available from Fulton Armory.  (You'll find it under M14 & M1A parts if the link doesn't work.  Their website is set up a bit oddly.)  And it'll set you back almost as much as the original rifle.

The second appears to be the SAGE system by the same manufacturer.

John, what the heck is that blue thing in the barrel of the middle rifle?  I can't decide if it's a grenade or a Batman style grappling hook.  maybe a mutant combo of both - the Grappling Grenade, for better target adhesion?

Tim, I'd guess it's a switch for a laser or flashlight.

Not that pic.  The one from your arsenal.

Ha I just bought my 2nd M-305 a nice clone of the M-14, that will join the other one in the safe along with my FAL. the M-14 is one of the great rifles.

D-oh!  That's the tail assembly from a training rifle grenade.  In that pic, I have the grenade launcher installed.

It appears to be this Troy Industries package: www.troyind.com/m14MCSpage.html The initial install might be a bit tricky, but I suspect that a field-strip for cleaning would be quick, easy, and accurate on reassembly.
