A brat's Christmas letter to Santa.

There were probably a lot of these from milbrats this year.  Yeah, I can use that term.  I was one.  I remember Christmas '68.  Lots of cool stuff, but no Dad.  I remember there being lots of cool stuff, but except for the telescope I couldn't tell you what I got.   I do remember Dad not being there.  Except as a voice on the tape recorder.

Life in the military is difficult, especially during deployed times. A good friend allowed me to send along this photo of a Santa list her daughter created. Her dad is currently deployed. Check out her list.

I remember those tape recorded messages too.   Don't remember the stuff I got then either.

I remember making those tapes, although my brother was based in Germany.

awwwww.... that sweet baby.

My friend Karen's son, Ryan, got home from Iraq about 3 weeks ago- and arrived home in Cincinnati with his new bride and twin baby boys on Monday.  Talk about a Merry Christmas!  Karen got her son back, along with his two sons.  Life is good, eh?  He served 18 months in Iraq as a 50-cal gunner.  He left engaged; came back married with 2 babies.  He's a little jumpy, and hyper-attentive to everything going on around him, but he's back in one piece.  REJOICE!!

I know there are thousands of deployed Mommy's and Daddy's right now, and thousands of children who have similar lists as Hayden's, but that doesn't make it any easier on anyone.  Here's hoping Hayden gets her Daddy back soon!
