Oddly enough, after a two-year absence from the awards, not being a premier milblog anymore, just kind of a place to hang-out frequented by old veterans and their groupies, with some guns hanging on the wall, we didn't even know that someone had nominated us.  To whoever that was, thanks!

Not in the milblog category, mind you.  No.  Save your scrolling finger some effort, and open the 2008 Weblog Awards link and yank it all the way to the bottom and scroll up...  trust me, your scrolling finger will thank you.  Our category is fourth up from the bottom (vice 44th from the top...) and titled "Best Midsize Blog Not Good Enough To Be Nominated In A More Specific Category."  Or, perhaps, "Best Midsize Blog Too Eclectic To Categorize."  Yeah, I like that better. Okay, tt's actually Best Midsize Blog (Authority between 201 and 300), which puts me firmly in my place doesn't it?. 

Ah, it's a good thing, actually.  I can't afford to get too big for my britches.  Then they'd all have to be custom-made.

Me, I'm thinking, "Anybody But Matty" myself, but I'm kinda like Greyhawk, I hate to choose among the guys and gals in the box, much less guys and gals in the box and guys and gals not in the box.  Except, there don't seem to be many gals in either location, does there?  What's up with that?  Not from a selection standpoint, from a blogging standpoint - where are the milgurl bloggers?

In some other categories... such as having to choose between Rachel Lucas and Jules Crittenden in Best Individual Blogger... well, Jules links here a lot more than Rachel does...

I like the choices in the  Best Conservative Blog, but wonder how a list like that gets compiled that doesn't include National Review's The Corner...  but hey, it's not like we went shilling for nominations, either, or that K-Lo and crowd need the exposure.  Heh.  First I knew was when my favorite leftish milblogger, Jason of Armchair Generalist, sent me a congratulatory note!  Gotta admit, Jason - I'm partial to your old look... but I'm glad you kept the dragon!
