In Case You Need Another Reason to Vote McCain UPDATE: Former Hostage Speaks

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the 29th anniversary of the beginning of the Iranian Hostage crisis.

477 Days our hostages were kept, tortured, beaten and threatened with death. Starring none other than the current Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad.

The Iranians, of course, have been celebrating the long awaited (and never to come) down fall of the United States today. Many huge crowds, burning flags, chanting death to America with signs proclaiming our alleged soon to be demise.

You need another reason to vote for McCain?

Saddam's "love boat" is up for auction by the Iraqi government.

Why? Because we kicked his a$$.

Still need a reason to vote for McCain?

Bin Laden's Aide convicted at GUANTANAMO in the second WAR CRIMES trial of conspiracy, solicitation to commit murder, material support of terrorism and multiple other counts.

Why? Because we kicked his a$$.

If you are interested in continuing to take terrorist names and kick their a$$es while thwarting Iranian plans now and into the future:

Vote John McCain

We still have work to do.

From AoSHQ on a similar post:

The day that Carter was defeated, one of the "students" couldn't wait to come into our cell to tell us.
Another Marine said, "You mean Reagan won?!?!"
"Yes." he said with a big humus-eating grin.
The other Marine and I looked at each other and said "Oooooooooooooooo" (the international sound for 'You are so %^(k#> dude!')
The student asked what the problem was at which point the other Marine walked right up to his face and made an explosion noise while miming a mushroom cloud with his hands.

Regardless of what Madeline Not-to-bright says, America's enemies are not always so eager to test a new president.

Thinking of the Hostages in Iran,  Wasn't it Reagan that cut a deal with terrorist to get them back?  Something about giving guns to terrorists in South America.

Oh yeah, Reagan would never negotiate with terrorist..  He was the one that sent in
the military to rescue the hostages.

I was wondering how long it would take Iran-Contra to surface in connection with this post.

Pretty quick, I see!

um, Big Chief TB's been hitting the peace pipe a wee bit too hard....

that was Carter's rescue mission.  remember?  they were released on Reagan's inauguration day.

the Happy Bird landed on US soil at Stewart Army Airfield, which was instantly re-named Stewart International Airport.

 Another reason to vote?

I swore an oath to defend the Constitution and this country from all enemies, FOREIGN and DOMESTIC!

"Nuff said.

Airborne! All the way!

(A sniper is a soldier highly trained in fieldcraft and marksmanship, who delivers long-range precision fire at selected targets from covered and concealed positions in support of combat operations.)

It was Carter's rescue mission ,micro managed by Carter and the reason it failed so badly. Iran wanted out of the hostage crisis as bad as we wanted them home and Reagan had sent word thru back channels that they did not want the hell they were going to recieve it said hostages did not return quickly. It was the perfect storm to end the crisis a stong  new leader, a long drawn out situation with nothing for the captors to gain.

God forbids, Barry commutes his sentence come Jan 21st!

Wrongo dragon breaths. I'm old enough to have lived thru those days.
1. Yes Carter did try to rescue those troops and civies.
2. Look into your history books again and check the time when some buddies from the RNC went to the bad boy turf, If I remember right, it was around the time of the RNC Convention then.
3. If I remember right, carter at theat time was in council with the bad boys, and about to have them released, when some third party stepped into the deal, and had the deal halted. (the third party was from here in the states.)
4. The talks would not resume for some reason. The president himself wanted to meet with them even.  But still no activity. Makes me wonder why?
5. Report of lost monies from a campaign fund, not the democratic party.
6. Regan gets elected. No talks, but foreign activity starts in Central America. Drugs start to flow heavly into america. Regan talks crackdown. More problems  now in south america.
7. Still no talks with the partners of our government, and the Iranians.
8. the folks mentioned in #3. were in talks with the bad boys then.
9. the day after regan sworn in, the good guys are released, No talks or anything.
10. Something is fishy.

444 Days.  That's all I'm saying.

"October Surprise."

Some of Carter's own staff were so unhappy with the thought that Jimmeh might squeak into office for a second term that they leaked the information that Jimmeh *had* cut a deal with the Iranians. They also leaked the details -- unfreezing Iranian assets, releasing aircraft spares that the Shah had ordered and throwing a whole bunch of *new* goodies into the pot.

The "package" was warehoused on the ramp at WRI for about six months. One month after Reagan's innauguration, it was gone -- I'm guessing the Navy got a scad of new parts for its F-14s, because the C-141s that carried it out were headed west.
