The Whatziss revealed

The Whatziss (click here to catch up) is an "anti-terrorist" armored tractor from Croatia.

Data plate from the armored tractor in a museum in Karlovac, Croatia.

Not that it's exactly a new idea, as we've discussed around here before.  As the owner of an un-armored tractor, that thing seems awfully top-heavy to even *think* about driving at 60mph.  Rube Goldberg would be proud of these guys, however.

This picture comes from an interesting source - Dr. Sean Malone, a historian for the Canadian Forces, who is the gent who provided the backstory to the Lumberjack Commandos motivator post.

BTW - and this is totally unsolicited - go buy his book.

so since that 7.62mm PKT up top is identified as the altenative armament...   where are they hiding the 12.7mm Croatian Crap Sprayer??

I dunno, Mikey.  I wondered that as well - unless, perhaps, that slit in the center, which seems like a pretty narrow field of fire.

The PKT is the *alternate* bullet launcher. "ili" in Serbo-Croatian means "or", not "and"...

Yay!  Mystery solved!

i was going to venture that same thought, to the extent that Croat would resemble Russki language...  that's why i said "alternative" vice "secondary"...

i'm still left just wondering what that 12.7mm honker would look like on that same mount.  that pintle appears to be on a fairly insubstantial skate ring (although the 7.62 DOES appear to be a wee bit undersized for that cradle)....

curious and curious.

(original comment was mostly just for being able to use "Croatian Crap Sprayer")

Just a hunch, but I'm thinking they'd need an elbow-mount extension just to get the bulk of the DShK out far enough to get the spade grips in front of the gunner instead of directly over his head.
