Sarah "Calhoun" Palin

I think she pointed to the press and said, "Go ahead, make my day."

To add a little more fear to the left: Sarah Fires from the Hip and Still Hits Her Targets.

I thought she was running over the audience a bit and couldn't tell if the delivery issue was due to limited time or just having sentences that were too long.  The teleprompter apparently tells all.

Update:  Politico says "no, it was not broken."

Hmm...I believe, though, from the prepared speech to the spoken one, there was some definite ad libbing and not just the bulldogs and lipstick comment.  However, if the prompter wasn't  broken, I return to my original suggestion that the sentencing structure could be slightly shorter with a few more places to pause and don't try to squeeze it or so much information in when the time is running out.  Or, at least have a few lines that can be dropped when necessary. to make room

And, I suggest hiring a teleprompter person who is Sarah's personal handler and can learn her speech patterns, personal choices and knows how to follow a marked up speech in case speed becomes the essence.  Most importantly, don't kill the crowd's enthusiasm (which happened at least five times last night).

PS...loved Rudy last night.  Loved, loved, loved him.  However, he could have remembered he wasn't the VP or presidential candidate and cut a few lines himself to give Palin some additional room.

Just a thought.

Politico says it was not broken, but I just saw on TV one of the McCain staffers who said it did break, and though it  started up again, it was skipping thru lines too quickly.

Yup. It was scrolling continuously, rather than pausing at the "applause" points. It scrolled so far in advance of her speech, it would have been pointless to read from it.

So, although it wasn't broken, it *was* malfunctioning.

Just to remind people:  It was the character HARRY CALAHAN played by Clint Eastwood, not "Calhoun,"  who spoke the memorable line "Go ahead, make my day" in the movies

Lawyer Algonquin J. Calhoun, on the other hand, might have been considered a "community organizer" of sorts during his 'time' on the public stage - that stage being radio during the "Amos & Andy" shows.  I can almost understand the mixup, however.

I think Kat's reference was to the character in the comic strip, "Calhoun and Hobbes"...

 McCain will soon be announcing:

"Sarah Palin, in addition to her duties as Vice President of the United States of America, will also be added to the TO&E of the United States Military. She will be classified as PSYOP's capable and considered a Theater Level Strategic asset. Any questions as to her capability to fulfill this role should be addressed to the DOD."

"Go ahead, make my day...!"
