I had a life-changing experience yesterday.

I find that I'm about to become a father-in-law. And a grandfather. And, to my very mild dismay, the order of assumption of those titles won't be the "Leave it to Beaver" traditional one. It will be in the order that Prodigal Son and his SO have decided upon.

Heh.

I no longer control certain aspects of my life. The torch has indeed passed to a new generation.

So, aside from having relatives in Alaska, shooting local fauna and being Life Members of the NRA, Governor Palin and I now have something else in common. Happily, the kids chose life, when they did have that other option, here in the state that is, weirdly, the abortion capital of western civilization. Though it was clear they didn't really even consider that option. The only option they really saw was to choose life.  SWWBO and I at least did get *that* right, even if, apparently, the technical details of the "The Talk" those many years ago faded in young minds over the years. Or, perhaps it didn't, and there was a wee bit of subconscious "we need a goad to kick us off top-dead-center" at work here.

Heh.

Congratulations and all that, though I don't feel old enough to be a Grand Parent, even though you are a month older than I. Our oldest is but 25 and there is some negotiation that needs to go on before she settles down.

All that being said, I was surprised at my 20th High School reunion by one of the young ladies telling me that she had recently become a Grandmother. You do the math.
