Uh-Oh! Speaking of our Georgian Allies...

War breaks out in the Caucasus

Russian troops and fighter jets moved into South Ossetia today in response to the Georgian Army’s offensive against Ossetian separatists today. Georgia claims to have shot down two Russian jets, and Russia accused Georgia of a “dirty adventure”. The hostilities broke out after years of tensions between the two nations over a pair of breakaway provinces still in dispute almost 20 years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union:
And you thought WWIII (or, IV depending on who's counting) would be started by the Islamists.

Heh.  Great minds think alike and post simultaneously.

I at least sign my work...

Heh.  I did not realize I was logged in as anything but me.

I figured it was you.  You did the Bruce Ivins post, too.  The machine you're working on must have the Denizens login in the cookie.  You'll need to logout and back in to reset it.

Bruce Ivins wasn't me.  I think somebody else claimed that in email

I *told* John you didn't do the Ivins post -- no Obama snarks.

We just completed a large exercise in country with regional partners. Georgia must have felt that they were as tuned up as they could be.

Now reporting that they will bring the brigade home from iraq on Saturday. Nice invite to Russian Air Force for a strike.
Georgia has about 5 bns. of US trained and combat tested troops from Iraq already at home. Don't know what their counter-armor training has been. OTOH, not a nice place to fight an armor war.

Maybe the Georgians could use some Draka paratroopers. Of course in that universe, you don't use Draka, Draka use _you_!

I dunno, JTG - I think a Draka armored brigade would be sufficient, and more mobile.  Even in that terrain.
