NOTR of the blog ROFASix reminds us to Never Forget that Some Gave All and posts a picture of a grieving fiancé Mary McHugh lying on her stomach in front of the grave of her late fiancee, James Regan, who was killed in Iraq this February by a roadside bomb. The photo taken by Getty Images photographer John Moore has sparked quite a controversy, some called it an intrusion into a private matter others claimed it was a bitter reminder of the sacrifice some families give during war. Before I post the picture I want to tell you a little...

Grumpy that is exactly how I felt, when I decided to post the picture here - It was not an intrusion but a glimpse into the personal sacrifice some are making in serving our country either by putting on the uniform or by standing beside their loved one when he/she puts on the uniform.

For a glimpse into the life of another brave woman who made the "ultimate sacrifice" stop by Mel's blog Cool, Calm and Collected. She was the fiance of Sgt James Holton who was killed in action February 2007.

Fellow Citizens, we live in a Great Country. We will find many people, who will make a sacrifice because of something. But on EXTREMELY RARE occasions, we will find those VERY SPECIAL INDIVIDUALS, who will do the Nation's business, IN SPITE of the risks.

Mary McHugh, YOU are one of those "VERY SPECIAL INDIVIDUALS!" Yes, you were the fiancee of Jimmy Regan, no matter what the outcome, you were making a sacrifice. In this case, in a sense you made the "ultimate sacrifice." The picture of you in the cemetery is not an intrusion, but an honor. You represent all of the families and friends who have lost loved ones in war. Sadly, this a part of war.

To the Family of Jimmy Regan and Mary McHugh, THANK YOU.

V/R
One of the things I will miss about this year's Milblog Conference is visiting Arlington. Moore hit the nail on the head when he said that we ALL owe some time to Arlington. We owe a lot more than just time to Arlington- we owe our COUNTRY to Arlington.

Last year's visit was very emotional. I found gravesites for a couple of soldiers I "knew"- knew by name and story, but not in real life. We saw a couple of funeral processions while we were there, plus a few fresh graves being dug in the OIF section. It was sobering, to say the least.
