Living in different universes, part II

In the previous post I was letting you read some of the treacle that emanated from HuffPosters on Friday.  Mind you, I'm sure we'll get some of the same vacuity from we on the Right after the Republican National Convention, especially if it doesn't get pre-empted by Hurricane Gustav.

But the most fun on Friday cames from this gem:
For the commentariat, it was a Katrina moment. It was a benchmark for how out of it and, well, disgusting, that crowd is. It established a baseline for magisterial condescension, for blindness, for night-is-day, for the gulf between dead-enders and the rest of the country.

Heh.  Okay, I left out two words.
For the right-wing commentariat, it was a Katrina moment. It was a benchmark for how out of it and, well, disgusting, that crowd is. It established a baseline for magisterial condescension, for blindness, for night-is-day, for the gulf between Republican dead-enders and the rest of the country.

That's from Marty Kaplan and his crie-de-coeur: Peggy Noonan and the Two-Headed Bowling Ball Child

Heh.  I submit that this formulation:
For the left-wing commentariat, it was a Katrina moment. It was a benchmark for how out of it and, well, disgusting, that crowd is. It established a baseline for magisterial condescension, for blindness, for night-is-day, for the gulf between Democrat dead-enders and the rest of the country.

...is an equally valid offering.

As cherry-picked offerings (hey, Mr. Kaplan has Ms. Noonan standing in for all of us of the reich-wing commentariat - I at least will offer up *two* examples of high class work...) I submit these - which were not hard to find, mind you:

Kos diarist Inky99 just had to "diary" about this...Palin's faked "pregnancy"? Covering for teen daughter? UPDATE #2!

Then there is this gem from a RedStater who was sitting behind Democrat Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina...Fowler Fouls: Hurricane is God's Favor to Democrats   Do click the link and watch the video of what Congressman Spratt has to say about Hurricane Gustav.

Snerk.

Update: Or, Alan Colmes' (of Hannity and Colmes) suggestion that Governor Palin neglected her pre-natal care thus *causing* her chld's Down's Syndrome...  that's a meme sure to go over well with the parents of Down's children.  Holmes has had such a reaction to his webpost on the subject that it's now 404'ing.  He must have friends at Google - the cached version is gone, too.   But the guys at Wizbang have a screencap.

Heh. Over at MyDD, Sarah Palin is a bad mother!  But, but, I thought the Democrat party, the party of abortion for convenience is cool by us, would be all for a mother not being held back by her child, and perhaps having to have the child in government-run care so that that child can be properly indoctrinated?   Or something.

But in fairness - Kevin Drum and Monika Bauerlein are examples of opinion leaders on the Left who will take a higher road than this particular one, without conceding an inch of the argument of the Palin pick on its merits.

It's fun to watch the Left tie themselves into such knots over Palin!  LOL
