Odds and Ends Observations on Public Opinion

Why I don't base my support of any strategy or tactic on public opinion polls.  Apparently, public opinion polls are finally recognizing that we are winning in Iraq and maybe winning the war on terror

Holy carp!  The Public is nearly prescient and omniscient.   Who knew?

Then we have this guerrilla fighter from Afghanistan, Mr. Khadr, whose attornies were kind enough to release his interview videos showing him crying.  Mr. Khadr was sixteen at the time and had been taken from the battle field after being involved in an ambush and death of US soldiers.  International outcry demands that Mr. Khadr be returned to Canada and set free since he was only a teenager at the time of the incident.

Pardon me, but a sixteen year old is capable of deciding whether he will or won't take someone's life.  In doing so, he must also face the consequences. Apparently, Public Opinion has been so far removed from reality these last many decades that it forgets in the land of Mr. Khadr's adventure and Mr. Khadr's culture, 16 is considered a man.  Particularly, a man who is capable of wielding arms and taking someone's life.

I really have no more sympathy for Mr. Khadr than I do for the sixteen year old, three time murdering gang banger serving life in an American prison.

Then there is that whole "Obama is god", worshipping, adulation as if the Beatles had just re-invaded the United States.  Now, of course, the polls show Obama not quite so bright and shiney leading McCain by a smaller margin.  Largely because Obama has turned out to be *gasp* human and worse *gasp* an opportunistic politician.  The whole time Public Opinion was buying "hope" and "change", it was about as solid as helium filled birthday balloon in a room full of cacti.  It's simply amazing his bubble didn't bust earlier.

Of course, the problem with Public Opinion is that it is as fickle as a $5 hooker and bought just as cheaply.

The art of manipulating public opinion is like the art of war. One goal, but many paths to it. Some better than others.

I just processed and dismissed at least 4 comments on "5 dollar hooker", but fortunately I decided to not share any of them.

LOL  I am waiting for the denizens to realize that comment was out there.

Wow...hookers are up to $5? Inflation is ruining everything. Best of the best was 1000 Yen @ 360 to the dollar. I must be getting as old as BillT.

CAn we go a day without an Obama tear down, please?  a)  It's too easy. b)  It's getting old.  c)  you don't get the hatemail from J over it---and boy does it piss him off.

So, can we have a break.  Please.  At least one day of no slagging Obama?  Please.

Not like I said that Obama was a $5 hooker.  I thought that was my mildest points to date.

and, I don't dog him everyday because, yes, it is too easy.

I value my eyesight more than to gaze upon a $5 hooker.  LOL

Obama.  Not experienced enough to be president in 2008, and what little experience and judgment he does have is too dangerous for America at any time.

Since McCain has conciously decided NOT to bash Obama... someone's got to do it, Ry.  We can't leave the entire campaign up to McCain.  He's missed so many opportunities to take both Obama and Clinton to the mat over policy issues that I'm afraid he'll keep doing that right up until, and through, the election.
Sad to say, but I feel it's up to bloggers to get the message out about both candidates.  All you get out of Obama is "CHANGE!!" and lies, and all you get out of McCain is "WAR HERO!!" and "I won't run a negative campaign".

Please keep mr Khadr, we have enough wankers up here already!

"I won't run a negative campaign".
Bush was and is the same way. And look where that got him in the political war of the Dawn of the 21st Century.

There is another link from Instapundit to Hotair, revolving around the name of a Eastern European country that split into two years ago, and older individuals not remembering it (McCain and a policy guy for Obama, Nunn).

Upon showing it to a friend he remarked. "Obama demanding the Sudetenland."

I also think the Obama campaign should be worried. By all polls, they should be leading by a significant margin. That they are not shows how weak a candidate the DNC has put up this year.

CAn we go a day without an Obama tear down, please?

No.

There is one public opinion poll that really matters though.

Obama kind of tears himself down and everybody around him with every breath he takes.

Check out this story on him.

The non-merciful nature of Obama deserves mercy from his political opponents? I kind of doubt that.
