Time to add a new caveat, because from email it's not clear to some folks (mind you, if you don't read this it won't matter...) Being an open post, people (collectively, the Denizens) other than I post in the H&I. They sign their work (most of the time) - keep that in mind when you want to flame someone in email please - if it doesn't say "The Armorer" or "John" then I didn't write it! And honestly - if you don't like something said or posted... leave a comment, and hash it out (within the context of The Rulez which are clearly posted on the comment form, I would add).

Oops! Forgot to post this Monday. I'll be interviewing a Canadian Soldier in Iraq at 10:00 Pacific Time this morning. As part of an officer exchange program, he's Assistant Chief of Staff, 3rd Infantry Division, currently deployed to Iraq. If you've got any questions you'd like me to ask, please comment below before 9:30 Pacific. Thanks! - FbL

************************

I'm a MIzzou grad, and my money attends K-State, so I'm still firmly wedded to the concept of "Rock, Chalk, Chickenhawk, Screw KU!" and I don't watch basketball, it's never been my sport... so, with those caveats, I watch the last five minutes of the game on Saturday, and I watched (by accident, since they were in overtime) of the game last night, and I have to admit with no grudging - them fellas sure can play basketball. Congrats to the Jayhawks on the proof of their metal, and no one can argue it was a fluke or they got lucky, methinks, though Memphis fans may argue the point.

I still wish they hadn't pre-empted "The Big Bang Theory" for all the trivial crap with the local talking heads trekking down to San Antonio to inform us that buying scalped tickets - they might not be real. Oh? Rlly? Feh. Monday is the only decent day of TV left to our eyes... they're driving us away from the tube altogether! Hint: SWWBO and I have the money, not our ramen-eating spawn! -the Armorer

********************************

Last night, Phase III of the Castle Argghhh! Farm and Recreation Center opened. First was the Range Complex of Argghhh!, followed by the Animal Husbandry enterprise. Phase III of the Very Select Tourist Trap of Argghhh! is now open... Last night we opened the Spa of Argghhh! -the Armorer

Hello! I hope you won't mind me sharing this with you but I thought you might be interested in what we've got going on to support our troops.

eMail Our Military's gearing up for another great support project for our troops, this time for Mother's Day. Since our troops are serving across the globe, I thought this would be a great way to help them connect with their moms back home in a really sweet, personal and fun way.

Our troops can write a note or make a simple card for mom and then snap a pic of it with their digital camera or mobile phone. Then just upload it to Qipit.com where it will be turned into a crisp, clear .PDF for sharing with mom.

What's I think is so cool about this is that it's free, and it cleans up the text so it doesn't look like a camera phone shot - Best of all it's an immediate way to send a personal note with a whole lot of love across the world.

This would also be a great way for kids who are separated from their military moms to say Happy Mother's Day with a homemade card right to mom's email address without the need for a scanner, etc.

I think it's a pretty neat little project and we're really excited about sharing it with our military and those who support them.

Wow. Thought I might be the only person on this blog to watch that program. That is one smart show.

Well, Kansas did play really well. They made a very smart decision early on: "Derrick Rose will not beat us". They beat Memphis on the glass all night long, both offensively and defensively. Our big guys got in foul trouble early on and Kansas took advantage, just like a great team ought to.

Memphis could not play their style game and the fact they were in the game at all is a testament to their pure athleticism and selflessness. You don't see a great deal of set plays from them, they just run the ball around the court, pass the ball around and force you to make a mistake in coverage and they're gone.

Memphis, by all rights should have won the game. Up 9 with 2 minutes remaining. The game should have been over. All it would have taken is one more free throw made. If they are 2 for 5 from the foul line, instead of 1 for 5, they win that game in regulation.

But it's hard to shoot free throws with your hands around your throat.

My hat is off to Kansas, they played a great game and capitalized on their opponent's mistakes. Just like a great team is supposed to.
