Time to add a new caveat, because from email it's not clear to some folks (mind you, if you don't read this it won't matter...) Being an open post, people (collectively, the Denizens) other than I post in the H&I. They sign their work (most of the time) - keep that in mind when you want to flame someone in email please - if it doesn't say "The Armorer" or "John" then I didn't write it! And honestly - if you don't like something said or posted... leave a comment, and hash it out (within the context of The Rulez which are clearly posted on the comment form, I would add).

8 am and no H&I Fires?
Was the Forward Observer sleeping during the dawn rotation? Yesh! You know its bad when my lazy-non-blogging-carcass rises in time and starts placing out the "Open for Business" signs.
Of course the complete lack of sleep over the weekend probably attributes to that. But hey, Rangers don't need sleep, as my wife constantly points out when subject designate Critter wakes up in the middle of the night. Still, their are worse assignments in my AO, and if pulling CQ with a sickly 3 year old whose the apple of my eye is the worst she can come up with, then I'm game :)
Onward, now then, to the day!
How about a little Monday competition for the Denizens, who by now are laden with coffee, that liquid black gold of campfires, coffee pots, shops and TOC's abound?
I've made my contribution to it. I'm sure among this motley crew we should have some interesting contributions indeed!
And just for fun. A little strip from my favorite online comic, Doc of The Whiteboard.
I can just soooo see The Armorer saying this. (Caveat: I can see almost 90% of Doc's comics applying to The Denizens and The Armorer, heh!)

My buddy Mike L offers up these six word novels:
Following a good life, he died.
or
Because he believed, he lived forever.
Thus endeth the teaching. :) ML
Definitely in his idiom, these. -the Armorer

Wow. Guess we were all super busy this weekend. Charlton Heston, one of the greatest actors that ever performed and a staunch advocate of the second amendment, died on Sunday at the age of 84. The Washington Post eulogizes him in A Persona Carved in Stone:
He endured, like Moses. He aged, like Moses. And the stone tablet he carried had only one commandment: Thou shalt be armed. It can even be said that if the Supreme Court in June finds a meaning in the Second Amendment consistent with NRA policy, that he will have died just short of the Promised Land -- like Moses.
My favorite movies were Ben-Hur and El Cid. I never forgot the closing frames of El Cid, when they place his dead body on his white horse and send him galloping out of the castle with his pennant flying. Surrounded by "the Moors" (you figure it out), the castle is near to falling, but just the sight of the great "El Cid" riding out sends the attackers fleeing. Nobody makes those kinds of movies anymore.
R.I.P. Mr. Heston. You had character. You were made of steel and had a nobility that none of your erstwhile detractors could ever pull down. We've been missing you for awhile now. -Kat

Some college kids have their priorities straight -- build a mini-panzer! I hope Mr. Foster realizes how lucky he is to have a girlfriend who likes to work on tanks too.

And because I know some of you hosers don't click the links - here's the video of the tank.
I like the way this kid thinks. Murray will approve, I think. -the Armorer
