Well, looks like it's official...Romney is goin' up the rails, bailing out after finding an old fighter pilot saddled up at his high six while he continues to lose airspeed and altitude. All we need to hear now is that maddening "Guns, Guns, Guns" before acknowledging with an aileron roll and turn to exit the engagement. Oh, well. I was a Thompson guy. But, my disappointment and anger are being saved for people like Ann Coulter. She's a smart, if self-polarizing figure who's made a career of tweaking liberal noses, but her take-my-ball-and-go-home tantrum is a singular disappointment and worse...

Maggie - That was eloquent beyond measure... and accurate.
You know, I joke about myself being somewhere to the right of Rush Limbaugh. Which is accurate, I think, considering if it was up to me, dueling would have never been outlawed. Which is why I can't understand, in what promises to be another close presidential election, people who claim to be conservative saying they will stay home and therefore help a hand-wringing, bed-wetting, gun-grabbing liberal get elected rather than go vote for a basically conservative candidate who sometimes goes his own way...

My problem with McCain isn't just the issues where we disagree, but in how he relishes in insulting his own party, and therefore me, just to get fawning coverage from the likes of Chris Matthews.

Tim, I doubt that is why McCain does what he does. He simply votes his own mind. I have disagreed with him plenty, but he is not trying to thwart me or suck up to anyone else. McCain doesn't suck up.

"For me a vote for Obama is a vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary.

BS - I can't believe that you don't see the difference between "pull out as quickly as possible" Obama, "pull out slightly slower, so I can look like a leader" Clinton, and "finish the job right" McCain!

At least with Obama he seems to actually believe his values.."

What is this based on? The man has no record. No substantial accomplishment.

Other ways I will either write someone in or vote for Clinton/Obama

Contagion - Did your mother ever tell you not to cut off your nose to spite your face? To say that you will vote for Clinton/Obama because McCain is conservative enough qualifies.

Presidential politics is done by triage. If your #1 guy doesn't get the nod, you throw everything behind your #2. That's how you defeat your #3 & #4. You can't throw your hands up and walk away.

It's ok, you can be mad for a little while. We have months until November. Start watching the Democratic debates. Soak up all that anti-war, anti-military, socialized medicine, and higher tax crap. Think about individuals making $75K being classified as too rich for a tax rebate and people who don't pay taxes qualifying for a "rebate" (I'm going to the local car dealership and not buy a car and see what kind of rebate I get). Wallow in all that "for the children" nonsense. Listen to the plan to re-distribute your money to people who won't work. Then we'll talk.

I just can't bring myself to vote for McCain just because he's running with an R next to his name. I can't do it.

At this point I'm really hoping for a strong independent or third party candidate. Other ways I will either write someone in or vote for Clinton/Obama.

I'm voting for Fred, if they let PA have a Rep Primary. I have to send a message to the RNC. And I will vote for McCain - unless by some miracle a Conservative mounts a viable candidacy.

                1. I understand hard-right angst at their poster children falling out, but I never considered Romney to be to the right of McCain, on social issues anyway. I don't believe in election-year (or close to it) conversions on basic concepts such as when human life begins.
2. For those who really believe that the military, both personnel and equipment, will be treated the same by either McCain or Hillerbama, all I can say is they must not remember the Carter years (or the Clinton error for that matter).
3. Judges, if anybody really believes McCain would appoint the same judges as either Dem, they need to just tune Rush back in and drink the cool-aid.
Therefore, I will not hold my nose when I vote again for McCain (already voted for him in the SC primary). Will he disappoint me, sometimes? Probably, but so did Reagan and both Bushes. That didn't make me give up all logic and embrace the other party with which I can find absolutely nothing to agree with… Heh, if you see people supporting a politician and they agree with absolutely everything the politician says, that’s not a political movement; it’s a cult…

                I went for Romney myself.

That being said I have repeated my underlying feelings several times: That this upcoming November will be akin to playing Russian Roulette with a Semi-Automatic pistol.

I can't find anything on John McCain to love, politically ( I must quantify that because I do not begrudge his sacrifces in anyway).

For me a vote for Obama is a vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary.

At least with Obama he seems to actually believe his values, McCain can't decide on his and Clinton will betray hers to the highest bidder.

Can we vote for G Gordon Liddy yet?

Sorry, but after having to deal with Mr. McCain as my senator I have to say when you look at what they've done compared to what they say the only difference between Mr. McCain and Mrs. Clinton is the plumbing. I can't in good conscience vote for either of them. But I honestly believe Mr. McCain would do more damage than either Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama. On the bright side I'll be deployed for at least a year of the next administration... :-)

My support of McCain has had to be somewhat muted in my personal life. My sister wanted Romney soooooo bad and I didn't want to be wearing the mashed potatoes at Sunday dinner. My support in my blog has had to reflect that.

However, here...........I can let loose!
