About 5 years ago, an elderly miniature doberman pincer showed up at his sister's house. Less than a month later, she was diagnosed with lung cancer that had metastasized through out her body, including brain tumors that prevented her from drawing, a favorite activity. This dog was devoted to her, and didn't leave her side. A few months later, my sister-in-law died from complications from the cancer. That dog, who'd been such a comfort to her, left the house a few days later, and wasn't found.
