We're preparing for multiple guests and the Super Bowl on the big screen TV. What do people in Missouri eat at a Super Bowl Party? Usually, I make a giant pot of "after burner" chili. I'll let you figure out why its called "after burner". But, today, we're in luck. We're having fried catfish, potato salad and various artery hardening victuals and kidney/liver busting beverages.

What's in your kitchen?

What team are you picking to win?

Giants? Patriots? I'm almost leaning towards the Giants as the underdogs against the undefeated. What can I say? It's almost quintessentially American to root for the underdog.

Here's hoping its a great game!

I thought the Pat's offensive line made serious mistakes and the only thing that kept the game from being a blowout was that the Giants made nearly an equal number of mistakes. The Pats were bad, the Giants were a little less bad. I'd rather see a game that was close because both teams were so good, not because both teams were so bad.

Even if there were different uniforms on the field, I would have said the pre-game ceremony and the commercials were better than the game.

Wow...crabster, I hope that hangover goes away. ;)

I thought the game was a good fight. Of course, I had your surrogate over here rooting for the Patriots so it made it fun while we cheered for each team and ate all the food. LOL

I guess its all in the company you keep.

I was laughing at everyone hating that Patriot's. It's all over the 'Net. It's amusing.

Next, it was a terrible game as far as the sport goes. Neither team deserved to win. All the mistakes both sides made caused the game to be very tedious indeed.

Ry, if you have a problem with the "Princess" part......take it up with The Armorer, he named me. Also, what are you talking about? Belicheck went to midfield immediately. Your comments about Brady and Belicheck are what I was talking about earlier in this comment. You are making stuff up and being venemous about a game.

As some of y'all may have divined from my previous comments, I'm with Sanger M here, and deliberately scrolled quickly past all comments describing what happened at that thing which I'd rather not name. I'll not apologize for having not-entirely-bad feelings about the Superbowel scene in the Tom Clancy novel, or lamenting the paucity of anti-personnel mines on golf courses. Football is fun to play, for some people, and fun to watch, for some people. I am not any of those people. I got to drive to the Publix while the game was on, and it was marvelous; light traffic and polite drivers all the way.

But you know what? I just went to see what teams are in the NFL now, and this'll give you some idea of how long it's been since I've cared even to pretend to care. New names to me:

Titans, Jaguars, Panthers, Texans, Ravens... Never heard of any of them!

And Cardinals in Az? Browns are still a team?!?!

Huh. The last thing I remember was the Rams shystering the taxpayers in St. Louis into building 'em a new stadium. Been a while, huh?

        Yeahhhhh!!!! Go Giants!

Man, I have to say, that game was good. Frankly, I think both teams were playing some great ball with very few real mistakes. At the most, the Giants were gunning for Brady and his front line just couldn't keep them down.

I would have been happy for the Pat's to get the record, but I was super excited for the Giants as a Cinderella team.

Great game, great food, great company!

Hehehehehe. Poor Princess Crabby. Besides, everyone knows the only *real* 'net royalty is Cassandra anyways. ;)(ow, stop turning the ear)

I am soooo glad frickin Brady stunk. He isn't the best. He isn't the best ever and he sure as hell isn't the best of his era. And this proved it. That the team all the yuppies love lost is just icing, that Brady sucked was the cake.

And we all saw, once and for all, that while Belicheck may be a genius he's also a narcissistic wanker with no class. No respect for the game or fellow coaches. If Dan Reeves can go to midfield after getting obliterated every time he took the Broncos to the SB so can Belicheck. What an @55hole.

And, just in case Alan's lurking, I believe in the t-shirt now. The t-shirt never fails.

Sanger, it's a very close game as the 2nd half starts, so I suspect there will be a lot of discussion tomorrow.

As a Chargers fan, I'm having a terrible time figuring out who to root for. Do you hope that beloved former Charger and superb player/human being Junior Seau finally get the Super Bowl ring he deserves? If so, you get the added benefit of watching QB Eli Manning (who spurned San Diego when they drafted him) lose. Or do you hope that the team that beat the Chargers in the playoffs and has a cheating jerk of a head coach loses?

Decisions... decisions...

Like others, the underdog factor, tips the scales. Go, Giants!

Rooting for NY here, since I've got no dog in this fight and generally support the underdog. Truth be told, I only care that my pool numbers come up at each/every quarter...
Home-made hot wings here for the game- washed down with icy-cold Pilsner.
Go Team! ummm... so long as you match my numbers... ahem.

And now for the sinister side of life (It'll explain a lot about me to those of you who care): I didn't know today was Superbowl day until two days ago, and I didn't know who was in the game until my 15 yr old daughter told me during lunch today--accompanied by a look of "what planet are you from!?!" I am going to try again this year to avoid knowing the score for as long as possible (I never watch football anymore), but I fear I'll be unable to last long because the folks I work with are all--well, in my opinion, overly sociable and they lack an understanding of the concept of 'inside voices.' S'problem with old former military guys, they're all half-deaf so they talk loud enough to be heard downstairs... It's madening on a good day, tomorrow will be just awful, I know it. And of course, I'm going to be subjected to endless repetitions of whatever stupid beer commercial makes them laugh, for at least a week... Arrrrggggghhhhhh!

Frankly, I hate the week after superbowl more than I do the game day (the one really nice shopping day a year). It's only a football game for goodness sake, not like it's really interesting--like strip poker or bungi jumping. Of course, I could get lucky and the game'll be a complete blow-out so people won't have much to talk about for as long. I can hope.

Just sayin'

(so how's that for fiestiness, mis amigos?)

No gladius, John Just a hand-and-a-half broadsword that *is* certified for steel on steel use. (Hangs on the wall of the computer room, I keep a Cold Steel kukri handy for close quiet work, and my stainless Colt Commander in .45acp for the cretins my wife doesn't get with her .40S&W Glock 23.)

I'll raise a glass to you my friend, but I ran cross country and played soccer. No REAL sports, but I had fun.

Airborne, all the way!

What, Alan - you've got the gladius from one of the Roman soldiers at Calvary? I'm jealous!

I don't have a dog in the fight, so I usually root for the underdog, too.

But this time, just to be different, I'm going to hope the Pats win, just to get the perfect season thing done. Having played a perfect season myself (in high school, admittedly) I know how hard it is, and how jacked around you get after each win, with one more looming...

That said, I'm not going to *watch* the game. I haven't really watched football much since I quit playing.

And I am working on a post for today, too. It's just been a really busy week, and I didn't touch a computer from about 5PM on Friday until about 10:30 this morning.

And the weather (snow and rain, mixed) has been making the satellite connection iffy.

But, I *did* put a magazine of 7.62 Nato through the Castle's L1A1. Just stepped out the back door, under the deck, and blazed away.

Kat - Yeah, we're going for the Giants, as well.
I was busy after Church getting chores done so I could hit the laz-e-boy at kickoff with a clean conscience and practice from recreational liver abuse...

Enjoy the game!

Luv ya, Kat! I'm shooting everything from .177 caliber to .45 in pistols, to .303 British and 30-06 Springfield in long arms. What the heck, I'll even break out the broadsword, calvary saber, and katana! I'll leave the bows racked up though, because I'm sore from push-ups. Being 45 is tougher than I thought it would be. Oh well, beats the alternative!

Stay well, I've got your back.

Alan
