Open post for those with something to share, updated through the day. New, complete posts come in below this one. Note: If trackbacking, please acknowledge this post in your post. That's only polite. You're advertising here, we should get an ad at your place... Time to add a new caveat, because from email it's not clear to some folks (mind you, if you don't read this it won't matter...) Being an open post, people (collectively, the Denizens) other than I post in the H&I. They sign their work (most of the time) - keep that in mind when you want...

                LMFAO Swabbie!

I remember many late watches in Combat Direction Center listening to "Filipino Monkey" and "Stinkie Indian" trade wit and Banter....

I've no idea why. It's not like a large American destroyer telling to back the hell up or we'll unleash a full broadside on your ass is anything to be afraid of.

Some U.S. Navy ships also carry it, but not just to repel attacking suicide bombers, or whatever. No, the system was sold to the navy for a much gentler application. LRAD can also broadcast speech for up to 300 meters. The navy planned to use LRAD to warn ships to get out of the way. This was needed in places like the crowded coastal waters of the northern Persian Gulf, where the navy patrols. Many small fishing and cargo boats ply these waters, and it's often hard to get the attention of the crews. With LRAD, you just aim it at a member of the crew, and have an interpreter "speak" to the sailor. It was noted that the guy on the receiving end was sometimes terrified, even after he realized it was that large American destroyer that was talking to him.

Yeah. It says "This is the Filipino Monkey....I go to hit you. I go to cause collision."

I used to think PETA were just misguided loons.

Now I think they just like killing animals.

At least I'm honest about liking meat.

I'm assuming he means Army Reserve specifically, rather than say, Guard or Reserve. If it broadens to include Army National Guard, I'm game.

Keith, Sgt. B might be a good candidate, though his posts are infrequent (to put it mildly, haha).
