Schizophrenic War

[Denizen Commentary - Kat] I've read two books over the four day holiday and am on my third. V.D. Hansen's "A War Like No Other", "Waging Peace" and "My War" by Colby Buzzel. I know many have probably already read these books. My local library has been very good about getting books in or finding them, but these were hard to come by at first because, believe it or not, they are very popular. In between, I've raided the library on everything from Saudi history, Islam, Jihad, terrorism and many books on the Gulf War. It's a small branch library...

Kat- Excellent, you,re really trying to blow out the old cobwebs of my old brain.

John, you "old-timer", you're really showing showing your age! Welcome to the group.

Kat, To get to the nature of this post on the war, first, we must answer a few questions. First, the issue of ROE vs. REALITY, which one do we operate within? Second question, One of the first principles of war, KNOW YOUR ADVERSARY, you want to be inside of his head. You want to KNOW HIS THOUGHTS, BEFORE HE THINKS THEM. Now, we've got to find him, we get all of the information from "recon" of the whole region, allies and adversaries alike. Where is our adversary? Don't just look where you want to find him. Yes, you are going to make our allies mad. TOUGH, find the adversary, you'll find them in the unexpected places. They will be with our allies. Let's see if the President will follow through on his original doctrine, right after 9/11.

I believe we can not JUST follow the above path, we must also do some nation-building. This would be done primarily to repair the damage because of the neglect of Saddam and repair some of the dammage of this war.

There is one last thing we need to learn, THERE IS NO SUCH A THING AS A CHEAP WAR. WE NEED TO LEARN THIS LESSON, YESTERDAY.

Grumpy

But no one was thinking it "in the beginning" of the war. that was the "new" part.
