Blogger's Roundtable with BG James C. Boozer, Sr.

Hey, Frank! Remember Lieutenant Boozer from Service and C Battery? For the rest of you, BG Boozer is the Deputy Commanding General for the Multi-National Division-North. Jim is also a personal friend. We were Lieutenants together, a long time ago. And while I don't think *he* recognized it, the rest of us knew he was going to wear stars one day. So, I'm not going to pretend to be unbiased about this guy. The assembled bloggers and one Fox newsie asked a raft of good questions, and they'll be the subject of a later post, after I have a chance...

Hey ..terrific article. I have always had the utmost respect and admiration for Jim.
I think he and my little sister are more in love today than 30 years ago.
He, along with all our troops, are the real life heroes. Wish the world would acknowledge them !

Jeez, I wrote my previous comment before pulling up Yahoo! and noticing this little item:

Iraqi Shiite rivals may use drop in violence to set stage for war

http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20071115/wl_time/waitingforashiitecivilwar

While I usually take most of the "doom and gloom" that TIME and the rest of the MSM pushes out these days, I think this is EXACTLY what Iran wants.

The key will be whether or not the Iraqis on the downhill slope of the "tipping point" will help us stop it.

Oh, yes .... I remember. Congrats on the star!

While we certainly have a ways to go and still face many challenges and risks in Iraq, it's great to hear someone you personally know and respect concur with the assessment that we're probably at a "tipping point", beyond which we'll probably experience a "snowball effect" of positive news as more Iraqis become increasingly tired of the violence, more committed to working with US forces and each other to stabilize Iraq, and more willing to turn on AQI and foreign jihadists fomenting sectarian violence.

But while it's nice to hear that Iranians are "helping to stem the flow of arms" into Iraq, I would have to admit that I'm cynical and suspicious enough of Iran to question their current motives after supporting the insurgency so much until now ... especially when coupled with Sadr's recent actions.

Why, it's almost as if they want to "make nice" right now so that external pressure is relieved, and we can start a draw-down that will be accelerated after a Democrat becomes president in 2008.

What do you think their strategy and goals would be for that scenario?
