I like the assumption inherent in this comment, from the Lawton, Oklahoma (a very Red area, actually) television station: But, with two similar incidents this week - both justified - will it lead to more homeowners arming themselves to potentially fire upon bad guys who are only trying to steal? That's the back end of the paragraph. This is the front end: "I believe I have a right to protect my home and belongings in my home and my family," says Miguez. "You know, this is my property. I'm buying it. I'm paying for it. So I have a right."...

I kinda figured all y'all would react like this.

Like I said, *I* in the situation described, might choose to not shoot, if letting the kid look up the muzzle will do the trick, but I don't fault the guy on the ground for shooting.

I just found the whole thing... interesting.

I'm not surprised that the media around here is trying to portray this kid as a victim. But seriously... what do these ninnies expect? Someone breaks into my place, I'm gonna shoot them too! I've worked too hard for what little I've got, I'm not going to let some little wannabe thug take what's mine. If he wants what I've got, get it the same way: work for it. Aside from that... a buddy of mine works at the local shooting range. Sounds like as good a reason as any to send a few more downrange!

                1. I went and read the whole article and I find I agree with your apraisal. It proves the point that journalism in this country is biased to the left and they are so insulated from the rest of the world, they (the journalists) don't even realize their bias.
2. I checked Brady bunch site and found that OK has a D-. Obviously, the people/politicians of OK are not giving much credence to what their media are muttering.

Why should criminals in the act of their crime have protections of any kind?

'Only' huh. Granted, at least in Australia, it seems the pettier the crime the more serious the punishment at times but I don't think that covers an 'only' kind of excuse on what is still a serious crime.

Qualification of a thugs actions

Shameful. The poor kid was "ONLY" trying to steal. We have dumbed this act down to show the criminal as the victim... Put me on that jury...

First a burgalary next an assault, then a murder... what if the kid stumbled upon a homeowners young daughter or child then what?

Defend what is yours. Don't tread on me or my household..

Umm, I think the incident of which you speak was in a different part of Lousiana, not New Orleans. As I recall, it happened on Hallowe'en, and a Japanese kid knocked on the door and got shot dead.
