Since I have a flight that goes through Atlanta, I am, of course, sitting here at KCI waiting on a delayed flight. Heh. Might as well open up the H&I. Sooooo....

It would appear Right Wing Bloggers don't care too much for the Republican candidates for President... John Hawkins of Right Wing News has the least-loved right wingers... Not all of mine made the list - my list included every Republican convicted of corruption or tainted thereby...

There - mebbe that'll get y'all started! -the Armorer

Oooo! A plane!

This is an attempt, futilely, trying to fill in the hole in male/female actions in society discussions that appeared when Cassie went of air/focused on milblogging over at milblogs. (Like stupid, ferret faced gollum is man enough to fill those coral colored high heel shoes, but we shall try.)

The ‘Mom Job.’”

What the fark? I may not be down with the male bashing and class-warrior based outrage of the folks over at Feministing(language and one finger salute warning), but I am in agreement with this concept being utterly stupid and another step in the overly ‘Hollywoodization’ of what a woman should look like, at any point in her life. Real people don’t live on tabloid covers, air brushed and quaffed by $400/hr stylists into artificial ‘perfection’, and shouldn’t try. Stuuuuuuped.
(See, toldja I couldn’t fill Cassie’s shoes.)

More of something that should simply go away: le affair du Plame. This time Novak fires across the bow. Sigh. This is almost like the Kennedy assassination. People will never let this go and conspiracy theories will exist forever.

I don’t typically like citing newsbusters, since it’s a nakedly partisan site, but they’ve got a good bit of hypocrisy caught in their jaws and I think it worthy of posting, even if it is a nakedly partisan site: Increase in MNF-Iraq deaths instantly news but a decrease isn’t a newsworthy trend.

Well, you could’ve waited until I got my replacement contact lens and could actually see, John. Whiner.(Aieeeee, it is the Hairy Eyeball! Must flee!)

With a tip of The Hat(dingy, beat up, and now smelling heavily of smoke—long story) to Haft of the Spear comes a story about a domestic spying ring that was giving mil intel to SoCal police agencies about suspected terrorists and plots. People involved are now going to be neighbors of The Armorer for two years and rightly so.

Though, it does bring up the question of what happened to all this sharing of info amongst agencies that was supposed to happen after 9/11 and the 9/11 Commission. Has Gorelik’s wall slammed down like a 2 ton portcullis?

*A term of art from the artillery. Harassment and Interdiction Fires.

Back in the day, when you could just kill people and break things without a note from a lawyer, they were pre-planned, but to the enemy, random, fires at known gathering points, road junctions, Main Supply Routes, assembly areas, etc - to keep the bad guy nervous that the world around him might start exploding at any minute.

*Not really relevant to today's operating environment, right? But, it *is*

The UAVs (oops, can't call 'em UAVs anymore - they're now Unmanned Aerial Systems... some Colonel got his Legion of Merit for that change...), er, um UAS's we fly over Afghanistan and Pakistan looking for targets of opportunity are a form of H&I fires, if you really want to parse it finely. We just have better sensors and fire control now.

I call the post that because it's random things posted by me and people I've given posting privileges to. It's also an open trackback, so if someone has a post they're proud of, but it really isn't either Castle kind of stuff, or topical to a particular post, I've basically given blanket permission to use that post for that purpose. Another term of art that might be appropriate is "Free Fire Zone"

I dunno... The mental picture of Ry in coral-colored high heels pretty much shuts down any higher processes over here. Run away, run awayyy!

Quaffed? Shouldn't that be coiffed? Or are they being untidily drunk by stylists?

The San Diego Union-Tribune pieced together the story by reviewing material from Maziarz's court proceedings and interviewing people familiar with the case. Those sources asked not to be named because they're banned from revealing contents of an ongoing investigation. Geez, there's just all *kinds* of people telling things to people they're not supposed to be telling things to. However, does it strike anybody besides me that something is fundamentally flawed when 1. a "good guy" steals classified documents to give to other "good guys" working to protect the rest of us and they will all (probably) be doing time; and 2. a sychophantic toad steals classified documents and destroys them for political reasons and receives "Bad dog -- no cookie" for a sentence?

I hears 'ya, Chief. But rules are rules(even if they don't apply to Sandy Berger). I remember a conversation I had with John about the sanctity of information. Basics came down to this: If I ever so much as heard something that wasn't open source (and he was feeling generous) John was going to come up here from KS and use methods HRW might find to be torture to get me to tell him who told me to make sure they'd go to prison; but if he was in a bad mood (or something good was on the tv) he'd tell the LEOs do it and send me a cupcake once in a while during my prison stay(Armorer's a big softy). That's how I approach the subject. Good guys cease being good guys when they blatantly break the rules consistently. And, hey, I did mention the idiocy of not being able to share this info. The whole Gorelik thing. It just needs to be done the proper way, and not ad hoc like this. Institutionalized. Not just some guys, whose hearts are in the right place, making calls that are above their pay grade. They shouldn't have needed to take this on themselves, but, since they did, they now pay the price for breaking the rules. Life's a beach, neh? (But wouldn't I pay to see Sandy Burgler in a max security prison?)

For the record, I'd be a character witness during the sentencing phase, Ry. And I wouldn't send Berger cupcakes.

I tell ya what. Next time I feel a post-feminist rant coming on, maybe I'll post it over here :p

Sure. I would've thought you wouldn't want that :p But if you don't mind...
