One of the first rules of good blogging is "be civil." Not polite, necessarily, but civil (a distinction I was first made aware of in The Blue Centurions). So what follows is an excerpt of a conversation in the Castle's command hooch that was originally meant to be private to avoid hurting feelings/flame wars/etc., etc. It was prompted by a gentle, and understandable, slap for my troll references in this post.

Fair enough.

However, comma, sometimes you just gotta wave the BS flag (respectfully, of course) and let the chips fall where they may. Bottom line: I've got little, no, zero, patience with a lot of the rhetoric coming out of people's pie holes these days. I have a personal stake in the outcome of this conflict. Like it or not we all do. If you don't understand that, sorry, but you're stupid.

So much for "civil," but holy mother of pearl, these people are crazy and want to kill us, OK?

Moreover, I appreciate the need for dissident voices -- the Bays of Pigs could have ended much differently had the White House had a few "No" Men sitting on the Oval Office couches (like they did during the Cuban Missile Crisis).

In any case, what follows is my rant on said subject and John thought it might generate some discussion...if nothing else, where I can get some help for my anger management issues. Your comments are welcome.

Hugs and kisses - Instapilot

BTW, because I still have a little girl at home, I take this war very personally. I don't want her dying like Ben Hall because we're still [expletive deleted] with these scum and she felt compelled to run to the sound of the guns like the sheepdog I hope she'll be, or watch her have to change her behavior to avoid "offending" some rag-head wanna-be at [local university reference deleted] by walking around with her hair exposed. So the [colorful reference to the gentlemen who posted] that wrote the "Bush lied, people died" nonsense in the remarks section made me feel like taking a tire iron to him.

Besides, if I wanted to give Nancy Boyda the benefit of the doubt (I don't, based on her behavior so far, but let's say I did), that wouldn't be possible in that guy's world. To this [person], everyone who has a different opinion is a liar, fool, failure and should be imprisoned/run out of town on a rail. So, political discourse is poisoned by his ilk and effective compromise, to say nothing of "partisanship ends at the waters edge" is well nigh impossible.

Sorry, dude, but I think the guy is a troll. He doesn't reach the level of Kossack, but he'll get NO quarter from me. At this point in my life, this war, and everything, I'm at the hoist-the-black-ensign-and-start-slitting-throats stage. Yeah, I wasn't a grunt, [I was flying above them] so mebbe this is all just posturing but I think I'm capable of putting 9 rounds into the wayward "flying imam," reloading, and doing it again until there's nothing left to hit.

Just sayin'

Ooorah

There WAS a time when partisanship ended at the water's edge. In fact, few now remember that following the election of 1940 FDR sent an emissary to Churchill to promise American support. That emissary was Wendell Wilkie, who had just been defeated as the Republican candidate for president. When Wilkie returned from his mission he appeared before the Congress and basically said, "I did not agree with Franklin Roosevelt on his policy on this current war. In fact, I did everything in my power to convince the American people to elect me so I could change those policies. But they did not elect me, and I am not the President of the United States, and I am here to tell you that we must all support his policies because he IS the President." And the Congress was swayed.

But I cannot see Hillary, or Obama, or Reid, or Pelosi or ANY Democratic leader of today taking the high road. They are so invested in America must lose this war that they will do anything to bring that to fruition. And they are already in full character assassination mode on Dave Petraeus and Ryan Crocker. I trust the American people will se just how morally repugnant they truly are.

Jim - just use asterisks or the special keys as substitutes.

The Rulez serve three purposes. One, to keep this place off the net-nanny lists. Two, to keep it a relatively quiet place, rather than a biker bar bounced by yuppies. Three - to facilitate discussion, vice poop-flinging.

Just keep it topical and focused!

        Dusty,

"if nothing else, where I can get some help for my anger management issues"

Anger Management 101:
1. Go to safe & legal location
2. Take 9, 10MM or .357 or .45 Cal pistols out of cases, leave unloaded and the barrel pointed in a safe location.
3. Set up targets, outline of a politician holding out their hand for a contribution most favorable one.
4. Check to insure firing range is clear.
5. Load weapons.
6. Eyes and Ears.
7. discharge weapons at said targets.
8. Repeat 4 - 7 many times.
9. Go home, clean weapons and self and then hug family.
Results: Anger gone.

Have a good weekend.

I have not now nor have I ever had a choke chain.
My son-in-law is just back from the (as his daughter calls it) the Big Honkin Sandbox, and my son just passed his MOS training part of the Special Forces contract he is on. He has language and Robin Sage to do then if he is still making it (like he has been since May 06) they give him his Green Beret and his stripes.

Many times I refrain from commenting here just not to worry about the rulz. Generically I would like to say ... screw anyone who doesn't demand victory... screw anyone who opposes us.

The choke chains should have been removed a long damn time ago. If anything, we should be even MORE angry, more determined, and more committed to squashing Islamofascism now than we were on September 12, 2001.

I do NOT want my SON to have to pick up where his daddy (and BOTH OF HIS UNCLES) had to leave off because we couldn't find our backbone or C.A. Jones to rise above the bleating of the left and fight this fight properly.

I am incredibly sick and tired of watching our military be set up to fail by the left. Regardless of where the politicians stand today, they voted for this and agreed to this in the beginning. They committed our troops to this fight. So let them do their jobs.

Put up or shut up. Either way, get out of the way and let them do their jobs.

*mutters incoherently under breath and beats head against wall*

Is it election time yet???

        I'm at the hoist-the-black-ensign-and-start-slitting-throats stage.

You're not the only one, Dusty. I hear its slow, rumbling as it grows underneath the surface.

I am not the type that charges full-bore into battle (even when necessary), rather the type that will quietly tend the wounded and try to sustain what it is that all the warriors are out there fighting for (however, come to my doorstep and get between me and my loved ones and I'll fight like a cornered lioness). Thus, I cringe somewhat at the battle cries, but I understand where they come from, why they may be necessary, and why they are to be honored (and am so grateful for the warriors who can answer the call).

I guess that was a long way of saying it isn't in my nature to reply to battle cries.

But earlier today I was thinking about the utter betrayal of our politicians who deny reality, tear down the military, lie to our faces, and attempt to manipulate the public, as they display a level of dishonor that stuns and appalls me. And it occurred to me that it is this very behavior that is gradually increasing the war cries of the older sheepdogs. I know they mean it when they say "never again," and when they talk of being prepared for the need for self/family defense. I just keep hoping it never comes to that.

My joke when overly-complimented for my troop support activities is, "It's not the goodness of my heart; I'm just sucking up to the guys with the guns so that they'll protect me when all hell breaks loose."--a line delivered with a wink and a grin, of course. The days, I find I must remind myself: It's a joke, it's a joke! At least it was supposed to be...

Isn't it time we all let our choke chains slip a bit? We are, after all, in a war not of our own making. We didn't want this war...but we were attacked at home and abroad by fanatics who want to decide how the world's population lives and worships. I know, the argument is that they just want to be free to decide their own destiny...but the problem is they think their destiny is to decide everyone else's. ("Act as I act; think as I think; worship as I worship; or I'll behead you.") I'm not a proponent of war or unnecessary violence; not by a long shot. But when threatened with violence, sometimes only violence will reduce or eliminate the threat. I say all this knowing that my children (two of whom serve; a Marine and an AF pilot) will be among those few who will bear the brunt of that violence. God Bless those willing to stand up and say "send me." And God Bless those willing to take a stand at home against blind, unthinking rhetoric based on unreasonable hatred of one man.

        Dusty,

I've got three to worry about, besides me and the Mrs. GN1 is a college junior and thinking about applying for OCS when she graduates. The boy is 19 and looking very strongly at enlisting. GN2 is still in school.

I concur with everything you said. The big picture is that we are in a world war. We didn't start it. There is no possible argument that could be made whereby we must take the blame for the actions of our enemies. We, however, must finish it, or they will finish us, and that right terribly and finally.

My children are too important to sell into the slavery of Islamic Fascism. I will fight it with any means I can, wherever I find it. It is anathema to everything our Constitution stands for. So yeah, I'll be happy to hoist the black flag because we have no other choice left to us.

     Respects,
