Just a reminder for tomorrow:

A Statement from Governor Kathleen Sebelius:

“On September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on our country claimed the lives of more than 3,000 Americans.

“To honor their memory, and as a sign of national unity, we now recognize that date as Patriot Day.

“I have directed flags be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, September 11th throughout State of Kansas facilities and buildings. I urge all Kansans to do the same at their homes and businesses to demonstrate to the world that the American spirit cannot be extinguished.

“I also ask that Kansans continue praying for those families and communities still mourning the loss of their loved ones.”

President George W. Bush issued a proclamation requesting all states lower their flags on Patriot Day.

********************************

Hmmm. National Unity. Where is the Democrat's Wendell Wilkie*? Which is not to say, "Surrender your principles" but rather - remember what we have in common, vice seeming obstructionism for obstructionism's sake. And no worries - I'll be saying the same thing to Republicans after they get completely swept from power next year as they so dearly seem to wish.

Term limits. Term limits on everybody. It's the only cure to the disease of power. Kinda like the NFL draft works - it would serve to shift the balance of power around the states the way the NFL draft shifts the talent around the league - preventing the huge accumulation of power that shows up in baseball. -the Armorer

*Probably Lieberman, and we see how well that worked out.

Update: Murray the Kiwi's comment should be up here, in the light of day:

With all due respect 3,000 Americans were not killed on Sept 11.

The citizens of over 80 nations were killed that day, most of them Americans.

They attacked ALL of us. To pretend otherwise is do the enemys job for them.

Good point, well made.

It's ludicrous to watch Kennedy, Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, et al excoriate the Iraqi political leadership for failing to show enough "courage" to stop the sectarian violence in Iraq when these same Congressional cowards don't have the testicular fortitude to stand up to their own relatively peaceful nutroots on the Left. All the pampered, wealthy elites in the American Democratic leadership have to worry about is the loss of funding, political influence, and votes. By contrast, the Iraqi political leadership faces very real violence now - from assassinations, suicide bombings, and civil war - and probable military incursions by Turkey, Iran, and Saudi Arabia if the US withdraws before we accomplish our mission there. Instead of compelling the Iraqi leadership to work together to stabilize Iraq, the Democrats' constant undermining of our efforts in Iraq and their threats to withdraw US forces are destroying any confidence that the Iraqis may have that the US has the political will and resolve to finish the job, especially if a Democrat takes the White House in 2008. Faced with the very real prospect of extreme violence in Iraq following a US withdrawal, the Iraqi political leaders are aligning themselves with those sectarian groups that will offer them protection in the bloodbath that will ensue. The Democrats are making a larger conflict inevitable after a US withdrawal - both inside Iraq, between the various Iraqi ethnic groups, and in the region as Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey move to expand their influence and control in the vacuum that follows.

Hmmm, keep it up, Frank, we'll give you posting privileges...

lol... John, when I started reading Frank's comment, I thought it was KAT'S comment. haha! nicely done Frank, btw.

Thanks, John .... you mean I could bore even more people than I already do? LOL Thanks, AFsister!

I dunno. If we can't handle enforcing the opportunity to term limit the congresscritters (TM) we get every two or six years, maybe we get the government we deserve. Besides, it's not our congressmen we want out. It's that other guy, from the other state...

U-man, it's too easy to get to vote. Hell, in a properly run polity *I* wouldn't get to vote. These days, you don't even have to know where the courthouse is, to register. "Motor Voter!" Spit! P.S. When I registered in this county (at the courthouse) I offered to produce birth certificate, ute-bills, affidavits, etc. I swear the clerk got all scaredy-cat from hearing me say that. Apparently they were forbidden to ask for actual credentials, so my offering credentials frightened her.

What Murray said.

Yes Murray is right we're all involved.

Murray, on that one day, they were all Americans, no matter which nation they originally hailed from. Those who murdered them wanted to kill Americans just for being Americans. Yes, everyone anywhere who does not subscribe to the extremist views of the false religion of Islam and its twisted followers is at risk, but we Americans got the dubious honor of taking point on this particular patrol that will never end.

And at Bali they were after Kiwis and Aussies because it was the favorite destination for soldiers in East Timor on leave. They missed btw. While I personally accept the spirit of what you're saying its a lot easier to swallow for others that we are all Anglosphere.
