The Joisey HRO couldn't *wait* to see me go -- cleaning out the dinosaurs 'n' all that so they could get a newer, cheaper, faster guy into my slot. Except the newer, cheaper, faster guy wouldn't do IP work *and* Safety work (he had the regs to back him up), he hadn't been to the IFE course, he didn't know squat about the S-3 shop, he only flew one aircraft, he couldn't fix a computer, and he hated to write SOPs. So they wound up hiring *three* guys to replace me. At 180% of their cost for a dinosaur. And a year-and-a-half later, they all got promoted. Yup -- higher pay grades + time-in service x three = a 230% increase over their cost for a dinosaur. Last. Laugh.
