Damian, of Babbling Brooks and The Torch, as well as others of my acquaintance, sent me a link to the story in the New York Times about the murder charges brought against an SF Captain and Master Sergeant for an incident in Afghanistan. FORT BRAGG, N.C., Sept. 17 — From his position about 100 yards away, Master Sgt. Troy Anderson had a clear shot at the Afghan man standing outside a residential compound in a village near the Pakistan border last October. When Capt. Dave Staffel, the Special Forces officer in charge, gave the order to shoot, Sergeant Anderson fired...

I put up the link to Chap's stuff on it, and filled in a disclaimer in the middle of the piece.

I'm tempted, as I said in the updates, to call the Fallon bit an info op.

FWIW, Fallon has supposedly denied it. Link is in the Army times, but Thomas Smith has it up at The Tank. I posted about it today, but you can find it more easily over there without wading through all my garbage.

Fallon told Petraeus that he considered him to be "an a$$-kissing little chicken$hit"

That sounds more like the language a civilian imagining a military butt-chewing would come up with. For one thing, while I've heard (and used) "chicken$hit" as an adjective, e.g., "You chicken$hit summon a beach" and "...this chicken$hit outfit..." I've *never* used or heard it used as a noun by anyone, let alone a Star.

I wish I had the time to find the link, but I don't. I remember reading a quote from Petreaus about Fallon's remark, which he flatly denied happened and said that they were on good terms.

Chap worked for him briefly, and had more. Consensus is that this is manufactured.
