...and falling, too. A roadside bomb explosion ripped through the armoured vehicle of six Canadian soldiers Wednesday, killing them as they returned to their base after a heavy day of fighting in Afghanistan's Panjwaii district. An Afghan interpreter riding with the soldiers also died in the blast. Brig.-Gen. Tim Grant, commander of Task Force Afghanistan, said the group was travelling in an RG-31 Nyala armoured vehicle on a gravel road, used often by Canadian convoys and considered to be safe. Two of the slain soldiers have not been identified at the request of the families, but the military has named...

I'm game..Capt.Dawes father was an instructor of mine when i attended RMC (Royal Military College)
and the Capt. is but one of a brood of proud patriotic Canadians who have served my country with distinction.

My only regret is having been retired before 9/11
If not for that (and a battered body!), i could only hope that i would have had the honour of serving beside men such as these, in our big cats with the powder primed.

As an ex armoured trooper, i commend him and his P.P.C.L.I comrades to happier hunting grounds with a ringing shout of

"Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!"

                Well, the Armorer's been busy.

I'm thinking it's time to restart 'Red Friday'. Everyone wear something containing the colour red to show solidarity with our Canuck cousins. Anyone game?
