Hey izzit me, or are these guys older than the gun?

Of course, a gun like that would look good snuggled between the Castle flagpoles...

Actually Parrott artillery has a confused history concerning nomenclature. The Army and the Navy called the same gun by a different nomenclature. See http://www.cwartillery.org/ve/parrott.html The Parrott rifle was so called because of the rifled barrel vs the smoothbore artillery.
