First up - it's *someone's* Natal Day!

The pic *is* an accurate portrayal of the individual concerned... and even *I* don't know what that important Valour-IT announcement is. -the Armorer

Allowing for the fact that some of these threats are probably coming from disgruntled Sooner Fans (hey, dudes, you lost, get over it) the others come from people firmly mired in pre-1950's America and the world. Yo, people, welcome to the 21st Century. Get with the program.

SWWBO wants one of these. Fine with me. There might be a terrible spray paint accident in the barn one night... (yes, I know it's 'shopped). -the Armorer

T-2.5 days and counting to the arrival of *this* at the Castle... -the Armorer

*A term of art from the artillery. Harassment and Interdiction Fires.

Back in the day, when you could just kill people and break things without a note from a lawyer, they were pre-planned, but to the enemy, random, fires at known gathering points, road junctions, Main Supply Routes, assembly areas, etc - to keep the bad guy nervous that the world around him might start exploding at any minute.

*Not really relevant to today's operating environment, right? But, it *is*

The UAVs (oops, can't call 'em UAVs anymore - they're now Unmanned Aerial Systems... some Colonel got his Legion of Merit for that change...), er, um UAS's we fly over Afghanistan and Pakistan looking for targets of opportunity are a form of H&I fires, if you really want to parse it finely. We just have better sensors and fire control now.

I call the post that because it's random things posted by me and people I've given posting privileges to. It's also an open trackback, so if someone has a post they're proud of, but it really isn't either Castle kind of stuff, or topical to a particular post, I've basically given blanket permission to use that post for that purpose. Another term of art that might be appropriate is "Free Fire Zone"

SWWBO wants a red tailed Fuchs?

Hey, FuzzyBee! Does this mean you can now hit the MilBloggies and hang out with Maggie legally? *scurrying for the bunker -- yup, there's one here, too...*

Here Fuzzy - this is your present from SWWBO and I!

If you ever get a chance to see a replay of the football player's proposal, watch how the reporter (Chris Meyers, I believe) blows the surprise. "So, here's your boyfriend, who's about to propose to you". Nice range tractor - you gonna have that thing up-armored?

Hmmm, hadn't thought about that with the tractor. Could go for a Mad Max kinda look. Mount two Vickers on it...

...in a turret. *After* you Chobhamize the driver's compartment.

I suggest a 106, to handle the bunnies. Cheers

Thanks, John. And I love the pic! :)

I've got a question a buddy of mine downrange tossed me, and given the regular military wierdness y'all play 'identify the widget' with, maybe you could help me. His email follows: "Hey John got a sight type RS3A it looks like an rpg sight but its not got a bubble designed and its markings are in english do you know what the heck it is for" Can't find it on the internet, maybe y'all might know.

John - a pic would make this a *lot* easier if your buddy can provide one. "It's got a bubble designed" Could we get a clarification on just what that might mean?

OK, so we know that FbL had her B'day. Isn't someone else's coming up real soon now? No, I don't mean mine. Oh, look what day today is, July 29th! Happy Birthday, John. In another month I'll catch up with you.

Well here in the East is is tomorrow. So there.
