Operation Grim, supporting the Wounded Warrior Project - over at Ranger Up! Worthy cause, but the webpage is not safe for Feminista-dominated workplaces. No nudity, but pretty women in pleasing poses abound. Which, frankly, is all part of Operation Grim's fund-raising plan. -the Armorer

Senator Reid continues the diminution of the "World's Greatest Deliberative Body." Admittedly, at least on the issue of earmarks, with Republican assistance. Is it possible the Dems will just completely shoot themselves in both feet sufficient to cost them the electoral victory that is theirs to take this next cycle? Heh. One can only hope. And I have high hopes for the Empty Shirt from Nevada in that regard. And golly, there is *one* Democrat I want to see win, a lot. Ms. Sheehan.

Speaking of the Demcrats - Bill Bennet on National Review's "The Corner" blog today:

The Democrats, given the public mood, should have been favored to win this election, but they are going so far left I'm not sure they will. The Democrats are now a censorship (think Fairness Doctrine); Censure (think Russ Feingold); Surrender (think Iraq legislation); Lawsuit crazy (think opposition to the flying imams legislation); Impeachment (think John Conyers); Amnesty party. In that mix, you also get higher taxes as well.

And, as my friend Bill Kristol pointed out yesterday, not one of the Democratic party candidates are going to the DLC convention this summer, they are, however, all going to the Daily Kos convention.

*A term of art from the artillery. Harassment and Interdiction Fires.

Back in the day, when you could just kill people and break things without a note from a lawyer, they were pre-planned, but to the enemy, random, fires at known gathering points, road junctions, Main Supply Routes, assembly areas, etc - to keep the bad guy nervous that the world around him might start exploding at any minute.

*Not really relevant to today's operating environment, right? But, it *is*

The UAVs (oops, can't call 'em UAVs anymore - they're now Unmanned Aerial Systems... some Colonel got his Legion of Merit for that change...), er, um UAS's we fly over Afghanistan and Pakistan looking for targets of opportunity are a form of H&I fires, if you really want to parse it finely. We just have better sensors and fire control now.

I call the post that because it's random things posted by me and people I've given posting privileges to. It's also an open trackback, so if someone has a post they're proud of, but it really isn't either Castle kind of stuff, or topical to a particular post, I've basically given blanket permission to use that post for that purpose. Another term of art that might be appropriate is "Free Fire Zone"

Just in case anybody's planning to pop over to t'other side of the pond, England's flooded. And it cost me £2 to find out I can't access any of my e-addys on Brit internet. Wonder what the situation's gonna be in another 7,000 miles...

1) Sex sells. Stoneface prolly does ok as well as Ms Lotsaskin Teethywhite. At least the product is worthwhile. 2)I don't think it's going to stop the Hillary Billary avalanche because congress has long been seen as the circus ring prepared for the clowns in the electorate. The next greatest dumb thing just doesn't provoke all that much response anymore because it's almost.. expected.
