Slant aside... ammo consumption That's alot of rounds! And while of course, I'd love for the old Marine axiom of one round, one kill to apply, that's never happened in reality. Also, the Old Corps never had mini or chain guns. Kevin is referring to this: From Lew Rockwell's website, brilliant military analysis by a political economist Robert Higgs: If You Miss the First Time, Try Firing Another 300,000 Rounds My somewhat intemperate reply (annoyance aimed at Higgs, not Kevin): Sigh. This is tired bovine feces, cockeyed "gotcha" crap from an ignorant buffoon grinding his axe, however otherwise good...

My Dad really liked beehive in the 105mm. Cleared the bad guys off the guns, but replace the pantel, tires, and spot paint, the gun was still serviceable.

I'm dying to send this guy a memo about 152mm canister rounds in VN...10,000 flechettes per, but extremely effective at, say, silencing a sniper in dense bush.

I feel bad about it now. "Really".

Ah...thanks for the towel. I just thought I'd ask because some of the stuff I have read at Rockwell is just like a Disney cartoon; full of the plausible impossible.

So, suppressing and covering fire as a deterrent
isn't allowed? You see, and Cassandra mentioned this a while back on her blog, that when we aim at a target, WE HIT IT. So, to support what you are saying, the reason we expend the rounds is tactical for aforementioned reasons, am I correct?

*mopping up drool again and scratching my brain where it itches*

Cricket - in Higg's defense, he does allow for stateside consumption.

He does not, however, really allow for in-theater training consumption.

And here's a towel. Clean up that drool, plz.

Oh, but to diversify in order to achieve the goal is what we are doing here, right? Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

And uh, aren't some of those rounds purchased going to basic training units? As well as units here who are training? I mean, all due respect to tactics (this is where my eyes glaze over and I start to drool) and amounts needed, it would seem that we have personnel stateside and in other areas of the world who use it too...am I correct?

I detest the Rockwellian drivel anyway. And the sad part about it is you have people who read the moonbat writing and believe that all sources are
verifiable because there are two or more.

Uh huh.
