Re: Lieutenant Commander Khan

I'm one of those commenters at Blackfive. I don't see a bogeyman, but I do see a token for the Left's new darling victim class. No other religion gets a Navy press release, leading with and emphasizing their religion, when one of their members accomplishes something of note. This is propaganda pure and simple. I did not demean Commander Khan, his accomplishment, or his service in protection of The Constitution. I do take strong exception with this rush to wave the flag of islam over America.

No, it's to angry and bitter. You can't reach someone like that. It's as crazy as John Edwards and his Memorial Day parade plan. Are Ron and Denny playing the Jonathan Swift card? If they were I missed the nuance. I find it's just depressing to hear someone talk about any race or group of people as "subhuman". As in this quote: (
Iraq)...it’s a sewer infested with diseased subhumans operating on instructions from hopelessly contaminated DNA.

Lively debate? I don't think so.

To provoke that lively debate?

I hope I never become as cynical and hateful as Ron or Denny over at Grouchy Old Cripple.

Denny said he posted it to "Promote lively debate". Debate over what? Ron's meds?

I was reading posts and blogs and ran across this article. Our Washington State PGR State Captain, "Cowboy" was leading that escort. Yes PGR was at Ft. Lewis and way too many other places across the country. If you have never visited our site, drop by and visit. If you agree, membership is open to Patriots.
God Speed and with care,

and... yes, I ride a Harley Trike with a PGR banner on the windshield. That's how I can "serve" until all our troops are home safe

I'm of two minds about this whole blog/social website thing. Sure, the positive message gets out. But the negative does too. What's the point behind the 'Strategic Corporal'? Part of it is that a single bad act outweighs a dozen good ones. So having a myspace page with 'Hammer of God, here to kill all...' is a real loser in the Infowar. One that some Pakistani paper(like the Nation, which is continually anti-US) can point to as the 'real thoughts of the American soldier and people.'

It's heavy handed. I don't like it entirely. But if people were using Dusty's Rule About Posting When Drunk or Hot Under The Collar, or simply using some common sense(do we really want to be putting images and messages that inflame out there? That's like walking into a bar and saying 'Bring it on, p^$$ies!' to nobody in particular and then wondering why you're at the bottom of the dog pile getting your nads crushed like walnuts.), maybe Big Mean ol' Army wouldn't be shutting it down(bandwidth problems or no).

In a war with no rear areas, no safe zone, the strategic corporal never gets to let his hair down. Sorry. But that's the way I see it. I wish it wasn't like that. Being on 24/7 is a real soul crusher(been there, done that, but not anywhere near this level of stakes). Mr. Corporal should still say the things he feels, but say it his buddies and family in an email(far more private and unlikely to become infwar ammo) if he's saying things like that. A little discretion, not something I was known for at 22 or 25, goes a long way.

                Two things.
1. I read about Commander Khan's appointment this morning. Very interesting... he was quoted as saying "I bleed red, white and blue", and it would appear the Navy sees that too. I'm not being sceptical, just curious as to how this will play out over time. Hopefully it will show that not ALL Muslims are Islamo-facists, and his appointment sheds a good light on their religion here in the States.

2. Regarding MySpace/Metacafe/YouTube being banned. I'm disappointed, again, in the military's lack of understanding of the positive affects of the internet and communcation sources. The articles I've read indicate that ANY government-owned computer will be banned from these sites, regardless of their physical location. The articles I read also said that privately-owned laptops with internet access at military-supported internet cafe's will NOT be banned from using these sites.
Maybe I'm blind and ignorant, but I just see this as another way for the military to shut down communcation and has nothing to do with "server space". If it had anything to do with server space, they wouldn't be allowing privately owned laptops to access these sites from government-owned/operated internet access points.

I noticed the ban article and wondered the same thing, John. They really can't figure out how to get information out without losing control, and I sympathize with the quandry.

Good bit from Dave on the PGR. God bless 'em for their devotion.
