Message to General Petraeus.

Your PAO is having congress with the dog. Someone needs to forward this to the Davester... From Michael Yon: RUBS #3 (Raw Unedited, Barely Spellchecked) I had occasion to read through the comments on the last few RUBS dispatches and I noticed, with appreciation, all the notes from families of soldiers in the 1-4 Cav, who were glad to see something, finally, about their sons, husbands and dads and the critical mission they are undertaking in Baghdad. Many lamented on how rare this kind of news is, and wanted me to know how valuable it is for them. There were...

It's not the "carry" aspect, but the security and aviable connections to send it.

In Pile's days, the dispatches would be sent off or telegraphed via military provided transport/lines.

Yon's thinking the modern army should do the same with the latest "dispatch" process: internet cable.

He is also thrown in with the KBR cheap labor folks. I'd bet he'd feel better if he was actually in a tent with just regular joes. then he wouldn't mind leavig his stuff in a foot locker.

I guess the days are gone when someone would be embedded for months with a unit. Whty can't they carry their own gear? The military personnel they are accompanying are lugging around 75-100lbs of gear, but they cannot carry a laptop and a small digital camera?? What gives?

You know, I read that, the other day from over at mudville. While I couldn't tell if "zigs" response was a little "condescending", yet on the other hand trying to be "helpful" in direction.

Zigs problem was in not knowing that Yon's been there and done that. Which, maybe was worse, since if he'd known that he'd been a little less prone to trying to direct him to things that he's probably already tried to do.

what happened to riding around with CSM Mellinger? is he saying he can't get any pull out of that?
