Neither blame nor shame for John, or for Damian either. Thought there ought to be a little shame for that minutia/militia 'pun'.
Proud of the boys though, particularly of that young Corporal who did his job as best he could, and kept his sense of humour even when lying in pieces in a hospital.

Am cueing up "The Great Little Army" on the CD player at this very moment, and spilling a libation, too. Yah I know Major Ricketts was composing about the British Army, but the Canadian one is even littler, and on the same continent with us, and all, and... whatever.

Interesting to note that both Stannix and Fevens are militia soldiers, reservists who volunteered for active service. Minor correction though...it is Fusiliers, not Fusileers. Princess Louise managed to have three different units named after her in the Canadian militia: the Fusiliers, the Dragoon Guards (which ceased to exist in 1936) and the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's). Not bad for one of Queen Victoria's more obscure daughters.
