Assuming Yon is in the right, dragging said general's actions out in the light is a good move. Guys like that thrive on back-room payback and are masters at leveraging their power over others in Machiavellian ways. Publicly exposing this move for the cynical, manipulative, political gutpunch that it is should be sufficient to make the general back down. But he won't forget... these types never do.
