Break out the 'ritamatic.... the boss and his lady are away! WOOT!

Since he's on a ship salvage mission, let's start off with the US Coast Guard gittin' sum up in Alaska. Way to go, Coasties! ~AFSis

As if we needed any more encouragement to run amok 'round here (see comments in the post below): It's the blog birthday of Fuzzilicious Thinking! Be warned, link includes lots of navel gazing and self-aggrandizement. ;) - FbL

This is REALLY good news! The Ohio Supreme Court voted UNANIMOUSLY to reverse an eminent domain case, siding with the homeowners. The court ruled that economic factors may be considered in such cases, but should not be considered the ONLY factor. Look for more states to follow suit, I hope! ~AFSis

*A term of art from the artillery. Harassment and Interdiction Fires.

Back in the day, when you could just kill people and break things without a note from a lawyer, they were pre-planned, but to the enemy, random, fires at known gathering points, road junctions, Main Supply Routes, assembly areas, etc - to keep the bad guy nervous that the world around him might start http://www.thedonovan.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt.cgi?__mode=view&_type=entry&blog_id=1exploding at any minute.

Not really relevant to today's operating environment, right? But, it *is*

The UAVs we fly over Afghanistan and Pakistan looking for targets of opportunity are a form of H&I fires, if you really want to parse it finely. We just have better sensors and fire control now.

I call the post that because it's random things posted by me and people I've given posting privileges to that particular topic. It's also an open trackback, so if (Don Surber uses it this way a lot) someone has a post they're proud of, but it really isn't either Castle kind of stuff, or topical to a particular post, I've basically given blanket permission to use that post for that purpose. Another term of art that might be appropriate is "Free Fire Zone".

Robert Samuelson proves his mettle today with a column on the Oil Bubble in the Washington Post. Samuelson points out that the oil crisis looks more like a classic case of speculation gone wild, driving the price from $20 a barrel in early 2002 to $7... Read More

Oh no, not again!

But Fuzzy, it's such a lovely navel. :-)

Hey, as the unofficial Denizen Coastie, I say lets not forget to give a Bravo Zulu to those ANG Pave Hawks too. Anyone who does SAR in the Gulf of Alaska is downright brave.

...Fuzzy Navels, anyone? I could use a drink...

Nah, Neffi, best stay clear of that. No tellin' what kind of lint you might have to tangle yer tongue upon. (Bet she wears polyester!) Concur with 74. People may have died to get those yummy King Crab legs to y'all's tables.

"Bet she wears polyester??!" Only the finest silks, linens and cottons, I'll have you know! *flounces off in a huff to have lunch with The Captain and spend the afternoon hanging out with men in uniform at the USO* *Pbbbbttttt!*

Very true- ANG pilots rawk! But... it wasn't for crabs. The ship was carrying 5000 Japanese cars to Canada. There's a joke in there somewhere about "flooding" the market, but I can't get it to come out right. (btw- the crew said it only took 10 minutes for the ship to go from upright, staring down a killer wave, to laying on it's side in the water.)

Hey, can someone turn the comments back on for the war of tribes post? THere's still some stein banging to be done there(just steins, not skulls).

JTG - Polyester? Boyo, I can't believe you said that. You live alone, don't you?

I can't Ry. None of the Kastle Keys I have fit that lock. *pout*

ry, It looked like John was giving Alan a chance to respond (probably via email, since posting was disabled), and it might be that Alan hadn't done so before John had to leave for Mexico City.

Ry - I've unlocked the Tribes post for the day, so you all can go whack on it some more.

Forgot to add ... remember to keep the comments aimed at the Message, not at the Messenger. *stern look*

What in the name of gawd have I walked in to here? Fuzzy Navels, Polyesters, banging steins, stern looks and USO troopers. I so have to stop working this night shift crud. I'm missing all the fun stuff. Happy Blog Birthday Fuzzy!

Aww, I just wrote that to get a rise outta her. And I did. So there. I *do* live alone, but that's because my cats are still at the old place, and it doesn't matter anyway, and I like it just fine and there's nothing wrong wi...

BloodSpite, I don't care what yer stern looks like. Now, some of them Denizennes', maybee... Ahh, I have to post the obligatory and obviously self-evidently true datum that my own Sweety has the genuine Ass of Venus (Tm), accept no substitutes, none genuine without etc etc.

Thanks Brab. (Heeee. I get to bang my stein on the Castle Bar. I'm such a simple creature. ;))

Thats good Just, I would be a bit worried if you were intrested in my stern. Now my wife on the other hand, is intrested in the forcastle and aft! :)

f'csl and shaft? *bats eyes innocently*
