Oh, no! Say it isn't so!

The magazine of Hamas, the democratically-elected 'government' (such as it is by *my* standards of government) publishes a cartoon that says, essentially, "Piss on Democracy." D-uh.

The current issue of the Hamas weekly has a cartoon of a Palestinian child urinating on the Statue of Liberty, which is holding a book labelled 'Democracy'. This expression of utter disdain for the US and its democracy follows other recent slurs in the PA media. For example, the West was condemned in March at a Palestinian rally: <br />
'for many years of trying to penetrate Islamic youth with dubious things such as the ideas of democracy.' (Al Hayat Al Jadida, March 4, 2006)

Think the Danish cartoons. Moslems complain about our not respecting them over a cartoon, well, its our turn to be upset.

I dunno. I feel curiously unmoved by criticism from this quarter. I certainly don't feel like rushing out and destroying my neighbors and fellow-countrymen's property, much less killing them in a riot.

What's wrong with me? Oh, that's right. The fact that I *don't* feel like that is evidence of my moral decline and depravity.

Otay. Gimme summa dat.

H/t, Strategy Page.

Yeah... I'm cryin' in my beer over that cartoon. Makes me wanna go pee on a koran. NOT.

I am so upset! Do Palestinians make a tasty snack (a la danish) that I can boycott?

The vitriol that comes out of their Editorial Cartoons is a daily staple in Arabic Newspapers. It's as old as their yellow journalism. However, just for that, hence forth no Camel Cutlets will be served at BOQ's.

I don't know. You've got to admit - getting a bunch of us together, jumping up and down, screaming and burning Palestinian flags would be a fun sight for the evening news... But it'd get old fast. Besides, I have to work tomorrow...

UM. This is a job for photoshop. Everyone jump up and down on camera. Someone will splice it all together over some stock film of downtown NY or something. Or someone sets up something like the website they had for British solidarity after the London attacks. Every takes a photo of doing something to a Pali flag and the caption that they're doing it 'because of insensitivity and disrespect by the Palestinian people'. I have ideas, but I lack the skillz.
