Can I have a 'Hoo-ah! please?

Not so much for the guy on the left, as the guy on the right. The guy on the left gets plenty of attention.

That pic underscores the fact that I have absolutely NO EXCUSES for being a lazy couch potato who no longer does PT in the morning. Way to go, SSG Bagge!

Nice image. This man both shows the human cost of the war beyond death (injuries are often ignored in my view and yet the impact is quite high) and is a great anti-pity example. I'm glad the US provides him with mobility assistance.

HOOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trias - you *almost* sound as if you are *surprised* we do that...

John, I was holding back the very same thought about Trias's comment. Trying very hard not to be snarky and turn your post into something other than what it was intended for. I'm glad you put up the "for Trias" post, so that he can see that we don't leave men behind, nor do we abandon them during recovery.

This picture is the balls! Last night I heard Laura Ingraham ripping someone she percieved as critizing this photo by commenting that SSG Bagge would soon be running for office. She thought they sounded cynical. My first thought was "Get 'em Laura". But my second thought was "Hell, I'd vote for him. I hope he does run. I'd go hold a sign"

No not surprised but you know I know of a lot of people who don't get much assisance in my 'real' life and it's nice to see someone who does.

Trias - as John stated, the programs aren't perfect, but at least we try. WHen I first saw this picture, I thought back to SFC Mike McNaughton. Those 'running legs' are interesting devices ... who would have thought that amputees would be able to run so well!? HOAAHHH! To all of them!

I'd not seen them either. Smart, though.

I don't know whether to smile or cry.... People do what they have to, some better than others. This is more than inspiring, but it also brings to mind very old memories of all of the pinned up pant-legs and shirt-sleeves I grew up around, and it puts me in mind of all the people I've known over the years who've left pieces of themselves in other countries (or brought back something they didn't want)... OOH-RAH! for SSG Bagge!!!!! But too bad it always comes to this. . . BTW, the Army hospital in SA cares for a lot of people who're in recovery mode. One of the fellows I worked with here used to volunteer there. He had a missing foot and his prosthesis was actually computerized, it allowed him to walk up stairs, downhill, etc. without a cane or other support. I didn't even know he was missing a foot until he mentioned it, I just figured he was old and formerly injured (he had kind of a stilted gate- duh).
