Happy Birthday, US Army!

...when we were needed, we were there.

Hey, it's corny, but it's true.

"When we were needed, we were there,

We were there when we were needed,

We were there;

No, it wasn't always easy,

And it wasn't always fair,

But when freedom called we answered

We were there."

Capt. Kimberly Hampton, from 1st Battalion, 82nd Aviation Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C., was killed when her OH-58 Kiowa Warrior observation helicopter was attacked near the Iraqi town of Fallujah, west of Baghdad.

Proud to have been there, done that, and got several t-shirts to prove it.

Happy Birthday

Interesting to see the ruptured duck. My Dad gave me several after I got out in '72. I gave one each to my sons when they left the Army and Marines. Happy Birthday.

Love the two pics! HOOAH and Happy Birthday!

Rest in Peace Kim! As you know CPT Hampton was KIA on 2 Jan 2004. She was the P in a KW (tail number 90-0370) when they were shot down near Fallujah. At the time the 17th Cav was OPCON to 1/82 as a part of TF Wolfpack.I understand Cpt Hampton was the Delta Troop commander when she went down. She gave all there was to give for her country on day. A comrade in arms that one day we will all meet again in Fiddler's Green.

If you mouse over her picture - there's a caption. Her fate is *exactly* why I chose it. Just as, frankly, Morales' ethnicity is why I chose his picture. Affirmative action is okay when it's My idea, imposed on Myself, for good reasons as I see 'em.

Happy Birthday, John. Hope you're celebrating appropriately :)
