Now is the time at Castle Argghhh! when we dance: In Memoriam.

Smokey Smith probably already has a beer poured. And Jimmy Doohan is there to explain why there's not enough power, Captain!

Now - will Canada stand firm? Or, waver?

She's not your ordinary Red Leg. She was Horse Artillery.

Gunners is gunners is gunners, Chuck. With the demise of coast, fortress and rail artillery, we're *all* horse artillery. I've got the badges right.

Salute

Heartbreaking.

A toast to a fallen comrade. Eternal rest grant unto her, Oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her.

Update: The vote came in....149 to 145 to continue our mission in Afghanistan. The vote was close ONLY because many opposition leaders simply chose to vote against Stephen Harper, NOT against our mission. This means that inspite of the close vote Canada's leaders remain supportive and committed to our mission in Afghanistan, and to our part in the War on Terrorism!

awww, damn, she looks like a damned fine soldier, woman, person. crap. RIP with gratitude and honor.

God bless Capt. Goddard and God bless Canada!

John, I think they use real horses. Did you ever read my dad's unit history, field arty in WWII? http://fifthfield.simmins.org/

Ceremonially, perhaps. But the RCHA uses trucks to haul their guns now.

Godspeed Cpt Goddard. God bless her family and the rest of the brave Canadian troops in Afghanistan.

Slow hand salute rendered. God Bless and keep her. It's tough for this old man to see young women fighting and dying in the mud and blood of war.

RIP, Capt. Goddard. Heartfelt thanks to you for serving. My condolences to her family and all who love her. V29 - With respect, I understand what you are saying, but it breaks my heart to read the name of every man and woman who falls. Thank heaven for all our warriors - past and present.

Yep Barb, couldn't agree more. All these kids that are being maimed and dying, twist my heart strings; the women more so. Call me old fashioned!

John, Do the Canadians still play The Flowers of the Forrest over their fallen's graves? Sad day for all who wear or ever war a military uniform with honor.

Commonwealth troops play the last post. The lone piper playing "Flowers of the Forest" is a Scottish tradition.

Which is why Last Post is the dance music.

May God Bless the young Captain, and provide comfort to her family and friends. She is at the place all good soldiers go - where they are protected and do not have to worry that their life is in danger. Rest in Peace, and know that others will carry on your mission and your traditions. Thus it has been, thus it shall be. With Deepest Respect and Sympathy. CWO4 Kevin G. Peterson US Army
