After graduation, the next time we met was at Arlington National Cemetary in June 2004, to say goodbye to a mutual friend from VMI who also fallen in Iraq. I asked him how things were going,and told him I was sorry to hear about his brother. He gestured off to a row of graves and quietly said "he's over there." You could hear the pain in his voice. I wished him well and said my goodbyes quickly....I didn't want him to see the tears welling up in my eyes.
