I'm sure it's not true, but I'm also sure it's funny. And since I picked on Big Media today, this is proffered as "balance"... CNN Photographer A photographer for CNN was assigned to cover southern California's wildfires last year. He wanted pictures of the heroic work the firefighters were doing as they battled the blazes. When the photographer arrived on the scene, he realized that the smoke was so thick it would seriously impede, or even make impossible, his getting good photographs from the ground level. He requested permission from his boss to rent a plane and take photos from...

Who cares? It was funny, and plausible. Stand down, Neffi!

Where you been, anyway?

Heh- sorry AW1 Tim, but that story was cartooned by Bob Stevens many years ago. His book of 25 years of AF cartoons is entitled "There I Was..."
But then again co-inky-dinks do happen... mebbe your FE read the same book and couldn't pass up the opportunity ;)

                Comrades,

Reminds me of my favorite Navy aircrew story. There I was....

We're on a NATOPS check ride, and up in the flight station of the P-3B the evaluator stands behind the flight engineer. Passing through 22K feet, the evaluator reaches up to the overhead panel and pulls the feather switch for the #4 engine. Immediately, No.4 turbine shuts down and the prop feathers. The pilots scramble to level the aircraft and pull out the emergency shutdown checklists.

Calmly, with no hint of sarcasm, the flight engineer reaches up and feathers No.1 engine. As soon as it locks in place, he turns and looks over his shoulder towards the NATOPS evaluator and says: "your turn"!...

Another, "I was there" moment brought to you by

    AW1 Tim
