<title>Jill Carroll - What if she was a US POW?</title>
<description>Conduct of US military personnel while POWs is governed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct for U.S. Armed Forces was first published by President Eisenhower in Executive Order 10631 in 1955, and was drafted in response to North Korean and Chinese treatment of UN POW&apos;s during the Korean War. The Code was later amended 1977 reflecting a re-examination of the Code based on our Vietnam experience, and has been periodically revised, if not in form, then in the substance of how it&apos;s taught, informed by experience with hostage taking. Bravo Zulu ,sir! God only knows what this woman may have endured. I suspect that most of her worst critics would not only have made the propaganda speech but would have also offered up the old knee pads and mouth wash approach. ( I hope I have&apos;nt offended the airscouts with that last comment or worse interested them))
 as alway regards

I&apos;m gonna wait 6 months and see what she says/does, and comopare that with what she does/says every 6 month period after. Six months is a tremendously short period of time(especially after the ordeal she just came out of), but I&apos;m being realistic about her PR value(both to terrorists and in the domestic political realm).

If she goes Mother Sheehan in the first six months it&apos;s understandable--- she was a prisoner and mentally tortured, and in common culture there has to be someone to hang blame on.

I didn&apos;t comment on my blog about her. But I did talk to my kids and said she seemed to be in the captive-aligns-with-captor (Stockholm Syndrome). I am glad that she was released and am glad that she realized that she might still be in danger and did what she had to do to keep herself safe.

But it was not clear in the early reporting when she made those statements. I only heard that &quot;upon her release&quot; she said those things. And I thought she&apos;d lost her mind. They didn&apos;t harm her? What is months in captivity if not harm?
