Juxtapositions - Lieutenant Captain Trevor Green

Yesterday, I took SWWBO to the airport, saw off Prodigal Son & Girlfriend, went to see Ultraviolet, then went Someplace Sekrit and got SWWBO a Natal Day gift. This has nothing to do with that, except tangentially. Tangents. What does this: Ambush in Afghanistan Mar. 5, 2006. 05:20 PM MITCH POTTER MIDDLE EAST BUREAU A Canadian civil affairs officer came in peace yesterday to a destitute Afghan village, removing his helmet and laying his weapon on the ground. He sat cross-legged with tribal elders and produced a notepad, into which he began to faithfully record the people's needs. From behind,...

I've often noticed how you stick up for Canadians John. You deserve a lot of credit for it.

                Thanks John and FbL.

Candace is collecting messages of support for Greene and his family at her blog (click on her name in her comment above). They will be passed on to the family by CPT Mietzner.

The family should be arriving in Germany tomorrow and it sure would be nice if they knew we cared.

C'mon, people.

Thanks for the posting, John, and certainly to FB for the connecting. For me and some others who are posting on my blog who knew him at different points in life, it is alone quite amazing that he put himself in harms way with such purpose. But that is the way, isn't it - these are normal people doing extraordinary things. BTW, he was awarded the rank of captain when he was hospitalized. It had been in the works for some time.

MaryAnn has been wonderful to our guys & their families. I've posted about her support and what Canadians & others can do to help. Thanks for caring.

Based on the amount of coverage it's received in the MSM, it's hardly surprising that people don't know of Canada's part in the GWOT. They didn't believe we had Canadians flying with us in Vietnam, either. The were US Army Aviators, but they were Canadians, nonetheless...

Whooops--delayed echo claims yet another victim. I guess it doesn't matter *how* well you did on that 8th Grade Arithmetic Quiz.

I'm am so glad to see SA working to help out with Lt. Green, not that it surprises me in any way. It is very sad that you had to work so hard to convice the sales lady of the Canadian committment and contribution to the GWOT -- very sad indeed.
