Last February you guys were nice enough to <a href="http://www.thedonovan.com/beth/archives/003586.html"target=_blank>post a piece about my little run in with protesters at the opening of my combat art show at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, Maine. I thought I’d let you and your readership know that I’m back in Iraq producing art and taking pictures. You can check out my current trip at [<a href="http://www.mdfay.blogspot.com"target=_blank>Fire and Ice] and see my work and read commentaries about my field experience. Thanks, Mike

Happy to oblige, Mike. All y'all add <a href="http://www.mdfay.blogspot.com/"target=_blank>Fire and Ice to your blogrolls and RSS feeders.

And check out <a href="http://mdfay.blogspot.com/2006/01/returning-to-worldof-color.html"target=_blank>this post and <a href="http://mdfay.blogspot.com/2006/01/of-quasimoto-dogs-death-and-god.html"target=_blank>this post for a little sample of what kind of work the Chief can do.

If this sample isn't enough.
Cool

I have in my possesion something you might like Mr Donovan in regards to Combat Art

2 Prints part of the US Navy Combat Art Collection feature a painting by Dwight Shelper or Anton Otto Fischer and a quote from various military peoples such as Admiral A. Burke or Colonel S.B. Moses

My Father has the other 3. They hung in the Naval Weapons School in Virginia for many years before he came in possesion of them when they remodeled it I think in late 1984.

He isn't showing the war "in context?" Pray tell, what context or perception or POV would that be, since these bleeding hearts haven't been there, done that, does that make their whining valid?

Morons and no.

        Comrades,

I live up in Maine, and sadly, we suffer from a severe infestation of moonbats. It's especially difficult whenever Bath Iron Works launches a new ship. They literally bus these folks in from all over to display their contempt and ignorance.

Unfortunately, the MSM here are always too happy to oblige the protesters, and crop their images to "enhance" the numbers.

Add to that the fact that all the daily papers are pretty much fronts for the NYT and it takes a lot of courage to stay the course up here in the People's Republic of Maine. Heck, our Governor just went to Cuba to set up trade relations, and the state entered into a large contract with Chavez in Venezuela for oil. Ah well...

At least we got good foliage...

     Respects,

       Tim

Oh, don't be so hard on the Salamander! Though the Sea Org has been known to indulge in some weird behavior, they do have some really spiffy uniforms, if yer an officer. Of course the Marines do it even better, and all ranks get to look cool when dressed up. Sorry, JoA, only the Texas Aggie bandsmen get Pinks and Greens these days.

Oh, yeah, that is some pretty gay War Art, almost as bad as that "Shirtless Loader on the 5"51" image I posted a while back. (I lurves history.navy.mil!)
