Hi everybody.

I see I got snarked about posting early. Too bad. I was still nice and fixed yer formatting problem, Bill. (hint - for something formatted like the poem, put in a hard break after the blockquote). Thanks for all the nice notes, except that nitpicking folderol from Neffi. Geez, dude, you've never sent dated Christmas presents before? There's this thing called mail, dude - you do your thing, wrap it up, give it to the nice postman, and your soldier overseas gets their gift mebbe on time, or, *early*. I went home and stayed unplugged for family reasons, so when...

Keith - Interesting that the people who screamed that women should be allowed into combat arms slots because "that's where the promotional opportunities lie" are now maintaining a subterranean profile...

Cricket - My absentee ballot for the 2001 Jersey gubernatorial race was postmarked 12 October, 2001. I received it on Valentine's Day, 2002.

We used to joke that the mail plane from Tuzla to Ramstein got caught on the ground by ice storms so often that the mail qualified for the combat zone tax exemption.

Heh. Those who know, know...

Three females in two days? The antiwar crowd will have a field day with that.

Prayers to the families of the soldiers.

From Gifties and Pressies and mystery packages, may the Post Office deliver us!

heh.

A couple of years ago, when the Engineer was in Kuwait, there was a HUGE cargo box being filled with gifts for the spouses and troops. It was right inside the HQ building, and we passed it on the way to a video chat with the Engineer.

It was December 15th, and the rumor had it that Franks himself or someone as high up would see to it that it got there in time for the Big Day.

I sent mine via the post office.

We all waited. The Big Day came and went, and no packages, but lots of video chats.

The Engineer's birthday is early in the New Year. He got his package on his birthday from the regular Post Office, and the Christmas packages were delivered just before Easter.

Remember I said it was a rumor? Well, it got to Dover AFB just fine. It then went on to Germany and got snowed in. Literally.

Was dug out and sent on.

Sometimes, love is all you need.

Knew I couldn't get pkgs out early enough on my own, so I sent my guys "giddygift" boxes. They will get more stuff soon.

Master Sgt Andres, Jr. lived about 20 miles from me. So sad...another fallen hero.
