It will finally be replaced. But the Toledo Shipbuilding Company laid her keel on March 20, 1943. And there is a new movie out which is a remake of an old one called Yours Mine and Ours. The star (Dennis Quaid) plays a CG Admiral and several scenes take place on the USCGC Sherman (WHEC 720) whose keel was laid in 1967 and fought in Vietnam. It truely is an aging fleet that needs dramatic upgrade. Thing was so clever you could dog the metal stock, feed it digitized CAD drawings, push the GO button and go for coffee.
