Both Specialist Howe, whom you've heard of, and the Patriot Guard, sworn to protect families from the despicable weasels of the Рhelps Phamily and their ilk. Folks, I wrote this when I returned home last Friday evening, Veterans' Day; I had tried to tell my wife about what a day I'd had, but couldn't get it done because of the emotions, so I wrote it down. XXXXXX pressed me to send it to the Beatrice, NE paper, which I did, and I have shared it with the Patriot Guard and gotten a lot of positive feedback. I thought that you...

you know the same thing was done (some what smaller) for Frantz in Tonganoxie??

I have other links for the story from many different sites including NPR.

I just thought that it was great how small town America does things compared to the "other" America. Of course, I just read a really sad entry at Just another soldier's mom linked at Mudville that described a recent funeral.

Really damned sad how young these folks are. I keep thinking about how we are getting an up close and personal view of history. You know, what it must have been like for my grandparents' generation. Except, sometimes I think they were so busy it was hard to have time to mourn. Maybe the low number of casualties are harder to handle than the high number because you get stories like these instead of simple casualty lists.

Yet another demonstration of "Semper Fidelis"...

The Marines lay claim to the motto, but it is people like these who explore and personify all of its many and varied definitions...

It stokes the fires, y'know...
