Here is another missive from Blake. Some of the pictures with this will cause a double-take. Continuing frequent commenter Blake's story that started here. Back in the days when I worked out near the sharp end of the stick, I never gave much thought to logistics, unless the logistics system failed to work properly. The unit gets ordered out, airplanes show up, the unit would get on the airplanes, and off we'd go. At the infantry squad leader level, you don't NEED to worry about how the airplanes knew when and where to show up, and how whoever it was...

The process described is identical (minus howitzers) to that required to mobilize and maintain the relief effort in New Orleans. The MSM as well as most of the people seem to think somebody can just issue an order and instantly relief workers, food, water, etc. will show up at a site supportable mainly by rotary wing aircraft 80 miles from the closest staging area.

Boq - That's not hard at all for a decent stick-wiggler. What's interesting, though, is how he manages to do it without the rotorwash plastering those cargo handlers all over the bulkheads or the turbine exhaust cooking the guy in the orange shirt.

But the really, really hard part's gonna be synchronizing the blades to slip through the hatch without scratching the paint...

*ow! my sides hurt!*

John, thanks for letting the rest of us get a peek behind the scenes. I always knew it was a big undertaking to ship all the support materials that go along with the warfighters, but it's exciting to see a little bit about HOW it happens.
