[Update - welcome to visitors from Michelle Malkin's place (and any other place that's trackbacked I don't know about yet)! Feel free to click here and wander around the other rooms in the Castle. Rational discourse encouraged, even contrarian, but mindless poopflinging is ignored and summarily dumped in the toilet and flushed.] Heh. I admit to being a little befuddled, but that's not unusual. I've been reading the report, referenced to me by Jack, who sent me to Pennywit. I freely admit, and have stated before in this space, that Abu Ghraib was bad. Now we have some indication that...

Peers intently. Hmmm. Close, but no cigar.

John if you're a redneck jingoist then I'm a rhesus monkey. I'm a metropolitan Californian by birth, and we kinda vibrate at the same frequency. You're not a redneck. You're just edumacated on the subject while most of us swallow whatever news commentator who's close to us in outlook says, facts be damned, when it comes to this kind of thing.
Oh, and I do believe we found a subject I don't have a strong opinion on. I have no bloody clue as to how bad this is or what should be done to anyone.;)

Yes, GK is a good book. And you need to add SERE School to your list.

Well, not really. I accept money from the government to do work, but am, very specifically, *not* an agent. In fact, that very fact gives the government the easy ability to disavow my work.

In other words, what JMH said.

I understand your point, and deliberately termed it as I did... to avoid the issue... which I shoulda known I wasn't gonna get away with!

I am reading 'Generation kill' right now (by Evan Wright) and when this book detailed the psych torture that Recon Marines are put through in 'capture school', I couldn't help but think of GITMO and Abu Garib and think that our own Marines (and probably SEALs and Sp. Ops) go through WAY worse physical and psych torture than anything I have heard from these prisons...
(GREAT book BTW)

Probably not, as the artist is not "employed" by the the government, and thus is not paid a salary; he is the recipient of a grant to cover expenses relating to "creating art". Or so I would understand it.

Cheers

                Good Post!

I have one question concerning the difference between artists and agents of gov-co. Isn't agency conferred when the artist accepts government monies for their work? A minor nag I know, but still…..
